  2. thanks woof - well done to the students and the shopkeeper (not that they'll see this). I suppose it must be hard to police the line between tipsy and so drunk you're not in control.
  3. thank you very much sliding doors!
  4. What baffles me is how no-one nearby on the beach said anything/intervened earlier but thank goodness the police community support officers did step in. I hope the baby makes a prompt recovery and the mother learns from her huge mistake.
  5. I'm in a 2 bed with british gas for both and we pay ?24 for electric and ?28 for gas but that's probably skewed because we only have two radiators (brr, am saving up for some though!). Also it depends if you're in during the day etc.
  6. I'm also thinking of a career change and have recently set up 3 days of shadowing a design & technology teacher to see if that's the job for me. If you did find a career you were interested in it might be worth approaching someone to see if they'll let you shadow them (although probably quite hard for most professions) or at least a quick phone call to discuss what it's really like. Best of luck
  7. I've filled it in and I hope your course goes well.
  8. Today I got cashback and had a horrible deja vu from last year in Somerfield. The lady gave me the cash then signed the receipt using the point of her fingernail I presume because she knew she didn't have a pen. Maybe it's just me but I find that very odd and quite disgusting, although I spose it is just a fingernail but still definitely odd.
  9. I stepped over one this morning - didn't stop to read it but it was orange
  10. > I don't think you're telling big fat lies, and to > be honest I wasn't even talking about you. You and > your personal story were not in my mind when I > posted. Your story had simply reminded me about > something else. I read it as aimed at giggirl just for the record. I think this thread is getting a bit nasty so maybe you should call a truce. Big kiss
  11. This thread has me salivating at my desk and i even made the mistake of google image searching brownies but they looked too amazing that I decided it would be mean to put a picture up. I'll add the WI recipe at the weekend!
  12. Only a few hours after saying I never heard a plane I now have, although someone did point it out.
  13. Intexas, I asked him if there had been reports etc. of recycling bag riffling/stealing and what was being done about it. Sorry it probably wasn't very clear because in my initial question to him I mention shredding so that's why he also discusses shredding. I should have cut out some of his response but I guess this is the relevant bit: "BUT what we're not hearing about is anyones identidy having actually been stolen. So suspect we're all in danger of getting carried away. Until actual identidy thefts occur not much for the Police to do." I know you're question is different because you're asking if it's a council initiative but I thought the response was relevant so added it in but I think I only confused things, sorry.
  14. Still never heard a plane and I've been listening out for them since the last aircraft noise thread a couple of weeks ago. I guess I'm lucky or maybe I just need to clean my ears out!
  15. Unfortunately they nearly all end up in my belly! Just add a chopped up caramel bar to any brownie recipe. If you want a good recipe let me know - I use a womens institute one :-$ (not that i'm in the WI, just a WI chocolate book form the ?2 bookshop in greenwich).
  16. This summer I become sophiesledgehammertime
  17. Thanks Shane I shall be wielding my sledge hammer around in a couple of weeks so everyone watch out!
  18. intexas I asked a similar question a couple of weeks ago and he gave this response: Hi sophiesofa, As you can imagine I have a lot of papers to shred. I take them into my daytime job where my colleagues think I'm a little odd and other times into the Town Hall for shredding. Eitherway, shredding bank and utilities bills seems a sensible precaution. Older shredders just shred into strips. More modern ones shred into tiny squares. Even these can be reassembled so better to shred lots together making the jigsaw truly immense. BUT what we're not hearing about is anyones identidy having actually been stolen. So suspect we're all in danger of getting carried away. Until actual identidy thefts occur not much for the Police to do.
  19. Yes that's the same girl. She's very pretty but in my opinion no-one should be a size 16+ by her age. I think the national average is now a size 16 but for girls her age it's probably around a 10 (that's just my guess).
  20. Seeing as a move to the lounge seems imminent: Narnia, I think these specific squatters deserve to be ripped off by bad colin but the owner deserves a straight, well fitted cat flap and good Colin would probably want more work so I vote for good Colin.
  21. There was more to it than that and it was the funniest thread ever to have graced the EDF IMO, but alas I think it is lost forever. Have no idea of good colin's full name or number sorry, hopefully someone else has it!
