  1. I don't think there's a right solution. They must be so fed up but the last thing i'd want, if i were them was to be forced out of my home for a year or so. I think what I'd want (not saying this is what they want/need) is to be given the price I'd paid (from the developers pocket) for the flat plus the value it would be worth if it had been built in the right place and sold now, plus any legal fees - they must be so fed up with it all.
  2. What can we do to help them? Did he have a petition or anything? I hope they don't lose their homes.
  3. I thought he was really nice, don't get me wrong he would p**s me right off but they work as a couple which is what counts. I hope this programme never ends - it's the best thing on tv at the mo.
  4. That's a nice post applespider. When I was burgled and awaiting the police but freaked out by the man still being in my front garden (too drunk to get over the fence he'd broken on the way in) I rang my neighbour upstairs and he came running to the rescue with a baseball bat and it does make you feel that people do look out for eachother round here.
  5. Look everywhere - I think it's all nice and you soon get a feel for the area when you're viewing flats/houses. I live on Lordship Lane and don't notice the noise so my advice is to not rule anywhere out completely until you've had a look around.

Q: What do you call an ape in a minefield? A: A Baboom.
  7. garden man also has monthly gardening tips in the local businesses section so you've got competition (and he started first) but he doesn't have a shed so I can't decide who my favourite is.
  8. I thought 2x ?50k was unusual but I'm basing that on my own situation.
  9. Missmay here's my tuppence worth. Crime comes in peaks and troughs but also we have a popular forum so we hear about more incidents than your average neighbourhood. Check out the met police crime statistic map - we're comparatively quite good round here. Every area has it's scummers but ED is still (in my opinion) a lovely place to live. I'm guilty of being lazy and walking the quickest route home but we should all keep our wits about us and if someone does try and mug you, just hand it over, it's just not worth it.
  10. There's someone who puts cones out on Blackwater street - drives me mad and I don't even have a car!
  11. Another lovely episode but there seems to be an emergency c-section every week!
  12. That the food under the "casseroles" section of Hisar's (sp?) menu aren't all casseroles.
  13. Good idea. I just filled in the normal sainsburys contact us form and used the drop down 'other' but the person who replied is called Nicole Hill, Customer Manager.
  14. this is the reply i got this morning from sainsburys: Dear Sophie Thanks for your email. I'm sorry that the park next to our store is posing a problem to customer?s safety. I understand that this is worrying as many of our customers use the park as access to the store. I have called the store and spoke to the Deputy Manager David who confirmed that the Dulwich store and in negotiation with the councilor to get the park lights installed. For the moment the park gates will be locked at dusk to help prevent any customers being assaulted endangering themselves. This is done each evening by one of the store security guards. We're grateful for your feedback as it helps us improve our products and services. I hope that you see a change soon and customers feel safer on their way home. We look forward to seeing you in store soon.
  15. Thanks ladymuck lets just hope they sort out the lights asap.
  16. Below is the reply I just got from Sainsburys. Sounds like they'll do something but I don't understand why they need to discuss lighting with the councilor when it's their park so I assume they should be footing the bill. 17. I've never heard of children/parents asking for donations to gap years. A lot of my friends had gap years (about 7 years ago now) and they all worked for the summer or a bit longer to save up for the trip and then off they went and had a great time - nout wrong with that. I wish I'd been able to (couldn't because I was very ill then) because I'm quite a shy person and found uni very intimidating and I think the year would have built up my confidence ready for standing on my own 2 feet.
  18. there was a thread on exactly this a while ago - it should come up in the search box.
  19. I've just emailed sainsburys to ask what they will do to improve the saftey of their park. I'll let you know the response.
  20. I'll email sainsburys then and if I have no success there I'll ask the south camberwell councilors what can be done. Thanks.
  21. No have not seen this around here before. It might be worth a chat with the police because I guess there's a small possibility that they might recognise the description of the man or something.
  22. Hello James. I think this has been mentioned before but there's a thread (mugged in park by sainsburys) by someone who was beaten and mugged in the park by sainsburys. Is this part of your ward, if not who do I contact? Thanks
  23. Poor you and I hope you have a speedy recovery. I think lighting in that park has been mentioned before - possibly on James Barbers thread but I'll ask him if he has an update or anything. It's such a tempting short cut when you're carrying lots of bags!
  24. yep stands for uniform resource locator, the link you posted doesn't work (for me at least) but I think PGC is right (and funny!) Good luck
  25. 100. I think I'd find it a bit odd to discover ladybirds inside - I never knew they liked to be indoors sometimes. As for moths - blooming things and why do they always do it to your favourite clothes. I'm going to have a check on all my stored away stuff tonight to see if the blighters have got in.
