  2. This reminds me of when I used to babysit as a teenager and I'd get home and have to report to my sisters if I'd found a simply red cd. It was our theory (proved right) that all young parents in hampshire owned at least one simply red cd. I've got I would do anything for love playing in my head right now but I might switch to Stars soon for a bit of variety.
  3. I've never noticed a plane since moving here nearly a year ago.
  4. i'm glad they're enjoying themselves ;-)
  5. the bbc says this about the dust: "We know the ash can clog jet engines, but is the ash dangerous to humans? Is there any risk of toxic gas from the eruption drifting into populated areas? Dr Rothery said fine ash can exacerbate asthma or lung diseases. In the UK, ash falling from the cloud is not likely to be a problem while still airborne. If it settles to the ground, he said it should not be stirred up by scuffing it with feet as that would make it hazardous for breathing. Dr Rothery said the gas did not pose a danger this far down wind."
  6. vcbrock thanks for that.
  7. istock photo - i've just been searching "washing machine" for a project and there's a delightful set of an undies clad woman from various angles with her head in the machine.
  8. They do reconditioned ones on the mac website - so look there. It doesn't sound like you need a powerful one so don't let them talk you into more than you need.

No > harm done. I was left in a DIY shop for 2 hours as a baby - I was happy as larry apparently. I once came out of the gym with my skirt tucked into the side of my nickers until my friend noticed about 5 mins down the busy road. I found my wallet in the freezer once after reporting all my cards lost.
  10. Unless he wants a good finish - if I was a squatter I'd make it live-able but I doubt they'll be off to moben or wherever to pick a nice new kitchen!
  11. Obviously I don't know who the owner is but I feel quite sorry for him/her because presumably he bought it to use it.
  12. Someone earlier mentioned the property was recently up for auction so presumably someone bought the house recently unless it didn't sell. Do you know if the house has a relatively new owner? Thanks
  13. I guess it's the 68 part then
  14. Presumably he's not a risk free client e.g. has known medical problems or is a smoker etc. I was fortunate enough to have kidney surgery privately, diagnosed at 17 I was covered under my dads work health care. Obviously I don't know exactly how it would have panned out under the NHS but it took about a year of many tests privately so on the NHS it presumably would have taken a lot longer. By then I would have been too ill to carry on studying etc. and it would have had a significantly worse impact on the quality of my life. I can't afford private healthcare but if I ever could I would do it I think.
  15. I've tried on more than one occasion to get through the ticket barriers with my bunch of keys. Who want's to be perfect anyway - I find myself quite entertaining at moments like these.
  16. I wouldn't be without my swiss army key ring pen knife - probably the most useful thing I've ever purchased. I went to court a few weeks ago (as a witness not a baddy) and it didn't get picked up by the scanners and it quite often gets missed if I get bag searched going into clubs.
  17. Thanks. Spectacular indeed!
  18. "5,500 empty privately owned properties" gees louise - why so many? Am I missing something here, why would anyone have an empty property other than between tenants or awaiting a sale?
  19. Not as weird as people who make facebook whole profiles for their babies/children! Loud kissing in public places, especially on buses. yuk
  20. Sorry I don't know what you should put but it is an odd system. In address finder royal mail has my address as Dulwich but I'm on Lordship Lane with a SE22 postcode so I always put East Dulwich.
  21. Good well I'll take that to mean in a month or so you will start then ;-) I'm quite surprised how many pro squatters there are - I wrongly assumed the majority of people would be against squatting.
  22. It bothers me most when the item is snipped up quickly before someone who might want it for themselves gets a chance. I always find it odd when people advertise stuff then it turns out to be an ebay auction. I know it's better to sell stuff locally but it also doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the forum.
  23. Do you know who owns the building then? This is a cheeky request but since you all have jobs or are studying so presumably have some income of some kind then maybe a reasonable donation to a local community charity or event every month in place of rent would be a nice gesture. I can't say I'm pro squatting but then again I don't know enough about it to have a proper opinion.
