  1. Southwark's Arboricultural Officer is Adolfo Gonzalez [email protected] Oliver Stutter has moved on.
  2. Has anyone read Tessa's "Homes for Londoners" speech ? It talks a lot about the need for new homes but doesn't explain how they will be funded. Anyone able to enlighten me ? http://www.tessa.london/homes-for-londoners However there is a bit in there for Louisa. We need new homes with mixed communities at their heart that harness London?s diversity. Let?s make sure that new homes unite communities rather than dividing them.
  3. ".. dynamic, vibrant place..", "..small village like communities..." - sounds like it could have been written by an Peckham estate agent.
  4. Same here - switched off the router for 1 minute after the power had resumed. Switched it on again and all good.

I also thought that use of the word penthouse in this threadt was deliberate and intended to be emotive however if you look at the third floor plan, the text does say "New Penthouse extension set back to meet Southwarks D+A requirements dimensions to be confirmed."

  8. I've been commuting for years and I fold my shirts in a similar way to this (though fasten every other button) http://www.realsimple.com/beauty-fashion/clothing-care/fold-dress-shirt I then put the folded shirt in a thickish carrier bag and pop this in my pannier. I'm sure Ortlieb are great but I've been using cheap ones from Decathlon for ages. It does seem a faff at first but the freedom not to be bound to train departure times and the currently awful platform 15 at London Bridge will make it all worth while. It also depends on what facilities you have at work to store stuff and what showering facilities there are.
  9. I've a Humax and it doesn't sound familiar. There's an active owners forum that might be able to help you. http://hummy.tv/forum/
  10. Funny definition of spying...
  11. It'll be a sad day when Food For Thought closes. I've been going on and off for 30 years and the food has never, ever let me down. I'd even go as far to says it's a London culinary icon. I shall definitely be popping in once or twice before they finally close the doors. http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/mar/28/food-for-thought-londons-iconic-vegetarian-restaurant-set-for-closure
  12. I'd recommend going to Cotswold Outdoor. In my experience their staff are knowledgable and not pushy. They're happy to let you try on as many pairs as you like and even try them at home (I think). http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/walking/boot-fitting-guide
  13. OK - I can't quite see but on the wireless receiver you have a green light on. Are you sure that this is not just a power LED and that there's not another LED that comes on when it receives the signal from the thermostat (Mine has two LED's one for power, one for "call for heat" from the thermostat) ? Is there an override switch on the receiver to force it on ? I've had trouble with mine before receiving interference from other devices that communicate on the same frequency. I had the opposite problem, our boiler was coming on in the middle of the night when the programmable thermostat was off. I changed the frequency that the thermostat and receiver were on (how you do this will depend on the model - maybe you have a manual ?) and that sorted it out.
  14. Here's a few pointers based on my experience. 1) In a perfect world radiators are sized to give a heat output that will keep you comfortably warm whilst allowing for heat loss. If you are buying new radiators then their specification should incliude a BTU or Watts figure for output. Problem is you don't know what the output is of the old radiators. Your best option is to look for something similar that's new and check the output of those. Screwfix has some basic radiators that might be similiar to the ones you're wanting to replace. So long as the new and old radiators are roughly in the same ballpark for output then you should be OK. 2) Almost certainly floorboards will need to be taken up but not all of them, it depends on where the existing pipework runs underneath. It also depends on whether the boards run across the room or front to back. Plumbers should try to minimise the disruption to the boards, especially if you explain that you plan to sand and varnish afterwards. 3) Have a go at removing the old rad's yourself. There's bound to be YouTube videos on this. In simple terms you have to close both valves (one probably won't have a turning knob on) to stop the water flowing from the pipes and then loosen the nuts that connect the valve to the radiator. You will need LOTS of old towels/sheets etc and shallow trays to catch the water that will come out of the radiator. Anyway of you can get them off you could get your decorator in to do the walls and then arrange for your plumber fit the new rads afterwards. Hope that helps.

Someone has taken a chance on the Tulse Hill Hotel which appears to be getting favourable publicity and it hardly located in the most salubrious location being at the junction of the South Circ and Norwood Road. The Grove could be similar if the investment was there. http://www.harpersbazaar.co.uk/travel/hotel-reviews/tulse-hill-hotel
  19. The ICE presentation is quite interesting if you want lots of info on whats actually being done. Good view of the low level concourse before and after.
  20. For Sale in JoJo Maman Bebe.
  21. I?ve recently travelled to Shoreditch High Street on the Overground a couple of times, both in peak hours. When the journey is started at East Dulwich and I change at Peckham Rye then it costs ?2.60. When I started the journey at Peckham Rye itself it costs ?2.90 ? 30p more. Both were PAYG fares. Absolutely bizarre ? anyone shed any light on the logical reason for this ?
  22. Don't you need a "specialist" site for your Louisa photos ?
  23. It could be worth contacting the Victorian Society - they campaign to save Victorian and Edwardian buildings. http://www.victoriansociety.org.uk/about/our-role-in-saving-victorian-and-edwardian-buildings/

Wins the award for the most names dropped in one post. When's the book coming out Jah ? As for Weller - as a teenager The Jam were magnificent. As a solo artist wealthy enough to be self indulgent at times. Go to a gig and the biggest cheers are still when he plays Jam songs which says it all.
