  1. I would recommend either Tanner Farm Park or Palace Farm, neither of which is too far away. Facilities are better at Tanner Farm but it is a larger site and therefore you would expect them to be, no campfire though. Owners at both are IMO a bit grumpy. Forgewood OK but a bit basic and, again IMO, a bit over priced for what they're offering.
  2. If you don't like the way this forum is run then start your own. End of discussion.
  3. How did the Hamlet get on?
  4. Probably a battery-farmed chicken.
  5. Could be a coincidence but there was a police car parked outside the house this morning.
  6. From the website: How do refunds and resales work if I decide I don't want my tickets? You should consider your budget very carefully when applying for tickets. Once your application is processed you cannot cancel, change or return the tickets you are allocated. When you apply, the maximum amount you could be charged will be made clear to you and you'll need to have sufficient funds available to cover this. Customers will have the opportunity to resell their tickets at face value through the official London 2012 resale programme in 2012. This will be the only authorised way to buy tickets from people offering their tickets for resale. Further details will be announced in early 2012.
  7. ?200 I'm OK with but the top price for my chosen event is ?450 and that takes a family of four price to ?1800 for 80 minutes of action. Sorry, once in a lifetime maybe, but that's too much for me.
  8. ...don't bother applying unless you've can pay by Visa as it's the only accepted method of payment. I find the whole ballot thing irritating as well. I'd like to go and see some of the swimming but if I don't get tickets for the day I've chosen I'd like to have the opportunity to have picked another day/event. The only way I can do this is by applying for lots of days/events but then I could get more than I wanted / could afford. There ought to be a way of ranking the application (a bit like the schools app. process) so that you can apply for many events in order of importance. The cheapest tickets for the swimming event I've chosen are ?50 so that's ?200 for the family + ?6(!) booking fee.
  9. As an aside, and this needs to be ratified by James B, but I believe the service of removing of untaxed vehicles was going to be dropped by the council as part of their budget cuts.
  10. Has anyone else spotted the white lines painted on both sides of the road between Elsie Road and Grove Vale school ? It looks like the council are planning to widen the pavement in certain spots resulting in a narrowing of the road. I'd be interested in the reasons for doing this - especially in these austere times. Perhaps it is intended to decrease the likelyhood of accidents and increase safety on the approach to the school ?
  11. eucalyptus - regarding Iceland, the following is taken from their website. Caring about animal welfare Iceland adheres to a strict animal welfare policy. We work with our suppliers to ensure high standards of animal welfare based on the Five Freedoms endorsed by the Farm Animal Welfare Council: 1. Freedom from hunger and thirst by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour. 2. Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area. 3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment. 4. Freedom to express normal behaviour by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind. 5. Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering. It's funny isn't it - I guess most consumers would assume non-organic/free-range chickens from M&S have a happier life than the same sold in Iceland (and they may be right). People assume this because of their perception of the brands involved and the prices they are paying, not - I suspect because of any hard evidence.
  12. I found these on an old thread. Dulwich fire station and crew at Dulwich Fire Station.
  13. Have you tried Software 4 Students ? Currently offering Office 2010 for ?38.95 - licence for two PC's. Only available to those with children in full time education - which I believe you do..
  14. FYI previous discussions on the subject here and here.
  15. This happened to us last week at some point during the day on Thursday. We've got a Peugeot 406 and again the drivers door was bent out creating a gap. Luckily we were able to bend it back. Nothing taken as nothing of value in the car. You should report it on 0300 123 1212 or at https://online.met.police.uk/.
  16. Today's post has just arrived. 2:30pm.
  17. Just a quick point of clarification silverfox, Ocado have a partnership with Waitrose but are not owned by them and therefore would not have any information on who bought what where.
  18. You can check here.
  19. P4 running OK. Picked one up from Dulwich Village and got off outside Brixton Tube. Victoria and Northen lines running OK, albeit overcrowded (but that's probably normal).
  20. I just passed a 37 on East Dulwich Grove heading towards Herne Hill so I guess that they are running and are no longer diverted.
  21. The Charter plans to open at 10:00am.
  22. The P13 goes much closer than the 363. Get off at Duwich College for the shortest walk to Kingsdale. About 10-15 mins walk from the bust stop I would think. Check the bus routes here.
  23. Thanks to all for the advice so far. We'll definitely be visiting Finches and TK Maxx.
