  1. Um, 'cos I wasn't invited. I did watch the fireworks though - very pretty.
  2. I'm only complaining about the lack of consideration regarding a forewarning. If I was going to have a loud party I would inform the neighbours, seems only decent. No Townley Green I don't live on Townley Road. And as you seem so well-informed, I will take your word for it that I won't be disturbed at 1am on a regular basis by equipment being humped around, cars revving, people shouting etc etc.
  3. And by the way I also was in bed at 10pm last night, as were my 2 children.
  4. Townley Green - I meant the loading in and out of PA equipment actually, not the fireworks. I am well aware the fireworks were a one-off however it is likely that there will be loading out after shows that may continue until late. As I said in my previous post the loading out was still going on at 1am. Practically outside my bedroom window. A simple warning to the residents that there would be amplified music and fireworks late on a Sunday night would have been a minimum of expected courtesy.
  5. I thought that was DC?
  6. It was in Alleyns, as someone said the opening of the new theatre they've been building for the last couple of years. Alleyn's school founded the National Youth Theatre so has a history of thespianism. Allegedly the theatre will be used for the wider community also (as an aside that will bugger up the parking in the evening as well as all day now). The fireworks finished at 10.30pm, I believe it becomes illegal at 11pm but still pretty inconsiderate for a Sunday night. The loading out of the PA equipment however was still going on at 1am. If that is going to be regular occurence I'll be on the phone to them PDQ.
  7. Drop in the ocean, media expanded fuss. Government feels pressure to say something, says wrong thing. Hmmmm sounds familiar.
  8. only house in the street with their windows open I would imagine
  9. Tequila Sunrise please.
  10. And if it bothers you that much why not go and speak to them face to face instead of having a pointless, cowardly moan here.
  11. Monkey Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well it's not summer, is it you brainbox? Charming. Sadly I fear you may have missed my point. Edited to add
  12. I'll remember that if we get a really hot summer this year
  13. shocking, people enjoying themselves on a Saturday night. Come on guys, if it's once in a blue moon big deal. Every night, you might have an issue.
  14. I used to listen to 'LWR You are in tune to, the best sound in London Town' when I first moved to London. Anyone remember that one? Then Kiss before it got licensed and another called Girls FM in more recent times.
  15. Well yes, there is that but it won't help in the short-term!
  16. Much of what HeidiHi says is common sense yes, but personally, I'm not sure I agree with all of the post. A "person of colour" can still harbour their own form of racism and I still think that using the term 'exotic' is slightly dubious, particularly in the context of the other thread.
  17. There is a pirate that sometimes broadcasts very close to the R4 frequency, I've had it muscle in occasionally. Not for a while though. The R4 frequency is quite wide so try tuning it slightly. Other than that not a lot you can do.
  18. but it seems a weird kind of thread to make up, if there's a deliberate attempt to wind things up there's more antagonistic things to come up with surely.
  19. what I'm wondering is, if this post is a pile of nonsense as seems to be being suspected, what is the point?
  20. that's you told Brendan
  21. I have heard that throwing a coat over the head to put the dog in darkness is enough to get them to let go, at least in a fight between 'normal' dogs, not sure about psycho dogs. Never tried it though.
  22. A forumite I know has a staffy but it doesn't fit that description (and neither does the forumite).
  23. my other half just pointed out to me this morning that a while ago someone - presumably male - started a thread about a good looking girl in a shop somewhere in ED (can't remember the details). They got pounced upon for being a weirdo stalker. Interesting how it doesn't happen on this thread.

    Lent

I think monks are more into abstinence, anyway my version of moderation is probably quite a few people's excess.
