I saw a bat this week too! And I've see more starlings lately. At this time of year birds feeding young need the protein of insects etc rather than nuts and seeds. We need to protect and encourage insect life to encourage and sustain more birds ? so don't keep your garden too tidy, plant indigenous plants, and build a bee hotel (or b&B) by drilling holes in a piece of wood.
I had to look the crab spider up, hadn't seen one before... I think we may have your goldfinches Malumbu, there's a regular flock around our garden near N Dulwich station.
Well, back to the original post, I'm going to carry on clapping ? mostly showing solidarity and with everyone keeping at it, not just NHS... passing buses get an extra loud shout. But it's a choice, not bothered by people who don't.
In Red Post Hill North Dulwich they've removed all the brown bins! But I can't see any mention on Southwark website about this, and at this time of year (especially in current circumstance) there is a lot of garden waste to deal with. I will try ordering bags, but if they've removed the bins I guess they won't be collecting garden refuse?
Parks are essential for people's sanity at the moment, if they close them all there will be a rise in mental health issues and domestic violence, and it will affect the most vulnerable. I agree that people with gardens should use them, leave the open spaces for those with no outside space of their own.
Agree, I noticed several cars today were seriously breaking the speed limit... not helpful behaviour, especially as there seem to be more novice cyclists out and about as well.
