instead of health visitors..?
FatherJack replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Honestly HV's are my last resort..when baby number 1 was born we (HV & I) got off to a rocky start, mini FJ1 was low birthweight/slightly prem but permanently breast-fed or so it felt. After our second/third visit the HV said we would have to discuss alternatives to breastfeeding if weight did not increase at next visit. I was mortified and certainly was not aware that these weight graphs were based on bottle fed babies in the 50's. Our brood has increased somewhat and miniFJ5 has seen the HV ONCE in ten months and she came to my home. Seek advice from friends/relations who are parents and this forum. Relax and enjoy!! -

Wrongly Accused of Car Accident (in east dulwich)
FatherJack replied to brewski's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
One evening, when I lived with my parents, a man called to the door holding a piece of paper that he claimed had been put on his wife's car windscreen. It said "the man who hit your car is called MY FATHER'S FULL NAME and address with FULL POSTCODE. Very strange it wasn't my father's writing but I took his details and told him my father would call him. At the time my father was working at Kings College Hospital and the mystery caller said his wife was a nurse there. When my father arrived home he knew nothing of the incident and there was absolutely no damage to his car. What I will say about the mystery caller is that he appeared to be a off duty uniformed policeman, ie the shoes, trousers, shirt and his overall manner. My father called him and told him in no uncertain terms that not only had his car NOT been in an accident but maybe there had been an abuse of position and that he would be reporting this to our local police station. My father heard no more about it. -
Many many congratulations!!!!

Hi Zaardvark Is your confidence in DKH now restored after reading the above and the recent letter from Ms Ewers??? FJ
-
How true Huncamunca.....DKH SATS results for this year would (probably) have provided a very different outcome re Ofsted. I've also used the "resting on laurels" statement myself! I do know that some longterm DKH parents are not impressed with the Ofsted Inspector's letter to the kids at DKH and are writing to tell her so! Zaardvark when you originally decided on DKH was it based on it's previous Ofsted report? Were you aware that it does not teach to SATS, therefore making it the school that it is. Inevitably results can vary year to year in any school. Hang on in there!
-
Aaaaaahhhh OFSTED inspections and their inspectors, they visit a school in teams(usually three) spending up to fifteen whole minutes in each class observing the teaching. I would describe this as a snapshot not an inspection, could it happen in any other industry.....bet there was a BIG emphasis on SATS......

?????? I'm not suggesting it remain in lounged, but t/f back to ED issues, would it have been moved if Admin were aware of tragedy that was happening. This is not me being arsey, as I said a polite suggestion. There are probably a lot of threads that should be lounged, it seems to be causing unrest on the forum...them n us! Who will the Admin side with? Forget that and do what's right, it's local enough! Let's not forget what it's really about and on that note I'll comment no more on the matter. Original thread"fire at North Peckham Estate"
-
I really don't have a problem! Note it was a POLITE SUGGESTION.
-
Admin, is this SE22 or did you miss lounging it? I'm sure you didn't realise what was unfolding when you lounged the "fire at North Peckham Estate" thread, perhaps you could move it back before EDFers start monitoring your monitoring of the general ED issues/gossip......... A polite suggestion.

Sky news have said 6 people have died including 3 children aged 7, ? and a baby aged 3 weeks. A tragedy.

Poppy-bees....it hasn't happened for sometime but we had MANY callers late at night or in the very early hours of the morning, requesting cash for all kinds of reasons, always claiming to be a neighbour. One said her mother was a neighbour of ours and lived at 38, we live in the 200's! Apparently she (the neighbour) had a heart attack and was taken to Guys Hospital, caller needed cash for a cab. Kings is by far our nearest hospital. When I called at 38 the family who lived there confirmed for me that it was indeed a scam. Just go with your gut instinct....

My bank card has been "compromised"....a warning
FatherJack replied to FatherJack's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I know that the police are not able to access my bank details without warrant. I am assuming that someone has been arrested and my card details have been found with them........hence compromising police investigation. Do you think by "compromised" they mean cloned because I have the card.......curiouser and curiouser...... -
NatWest fraud dept called me to say that the police have advised them that my card has been compromised...they then checked all transactions which were fine. All they would say that it may have happened at a cash point (apparently the card reading devices are very sophisticated now and you wouldn't be aware of one on the machine!)OR I may have used my card at a store where a member of staff may have taken down my card details.....This is ALL they could tell me, as anymore may compromise the police investigation. Anyone else had a call like this? Note I called NatWest back on telephone number known to me just to be certain I was speaking with the bank!! I rarely use this card in shops but always use this card to draw cash out at Sainsburys East Dulwich.........

We spent a long morning "trouble shooting" with Apple Regent Street......it needs a new hard drive! I would like to know how to "rescue" if poss what's on the hard drive.....family photo's mainly What bugs me is that it's hardly used and fairly new, just over a year....it's a beautiful piece to look at but that's not the real reason we got it! Our bog standard HP ug bug has never let us down! We also purchased a Macbook with the desktop and it had a faulty battery......oh Apple!!!
-
Our Apple desktop computer requires a replacement hard drive. We discovered this when a folder with a ? within it appeared on the screen. It is less than two years old and fortunately we purchased it in John Lewis, unlike Apple they provide a two year parts & labour guarantee. They are happy to replace the hard drive but any retrieval of data is our responsibility. One lesson from this is you should back up your data either monthly or with an external hard drive, a direct quote from John Lewis!
