  1. Intexas...... I suspect there are waiting LISTS at Kingsdale, hence when my friend visited the school last year to ask where her daughter was on the waiting list, they asked "which one". Who knows I still don't know why parents are advised to accept their initial offer while they apply to waiting lists/appeal. If everyone does this there will be nothing to shake up. Also how is this priortised? If a child is offered a school that was a choice, but lower down list and not really anything like their number 1 or 2, are they considered equal to a child who received nothing on their application/no school offer???? What I can say is that the PAN system works for children who are applying for a school where an elder sibling attends and there is a sibling policy in place!!
  2. Can someone please explain how this system works..... We have been offered a school that did not feature on our application, yet we have been advised to say yes while we appeal or hope for a waiting list offer. If EVERYONE does this nothing will become available until September. Or is there a method in what feels like madness? Roll on the "shake up" but will there be anything to shake........?? BB100 a low birth year? Southwark were unable to offer 40 children a place. St Michael and All Angels are closing and The Academy at Peckham have reduced their intake. Arrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  3. Is there a local cricket club that offers coaching for kids? Cheers!
  4. Good news Southwark News have confirmed that Lena Molly Malcolm has been found. Thanks for looking.
  5. Southwark News Police are urgently appealing for information on the whereabouts of a 77-year-old woman who has been missing from an address in Camberwell since 3 January 2011. Lena Malcolm, also known as Molly, suffers from Alzheimer's, dementia, arthritis and diabetes and was last seen yesterday at 2030hrs at her home address in Camberwell wearing a light grey cardigan, a pleated checked skirt with black, grey and red lines and grey slippers. She may also be wearing glasses and carrying a cream bucket. Her family and police are very concerned about her current welfare. Detective Inspector, Ed Facer said: "Lena has taken to carrying some of her personal belongings in a creamcoloured bucket. This, together with her clothing, may cause the public to notice her, though I must stress that she may no longer have the bucket in her possession." If anyone has any information please call Southwark Missing Persons Unit on 0207 232 6246 or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
  6. Am I being unreasonable? It seems that contracts now have a "fair weather" policy that means parents must pay in full even if the nursery is unable to open or only partially open for a half day. Any thoughts or personal experiences of this?? I experienced this last week and I find it incredulous but maybe I'm not getting the bigger picture.................
  7. Before I saw this thread I honestly thought he may have had a stroke!
  8. And it's cheap!! If you compare the "ingredients" of specific baby cradle cap products, I'm sure they contain coconut oil?? The last tub I bought cost less than ?1, you can warm it and it becomes a liquid or put it in the fridge and it solidifies.
  9. You could try coconut oil on scalp, available in small tubs from chemist. It lifts off the dry scaly skin/scalp.
  10. Thank you Ian.......my suspicions were raised at the thought of them shipping second hand clothing from the UK to second hand shops across third world countries..........
  11. Another charity clothing collection leaflet to ignore is from Valewall Ltd reg no 5640823. Apparently they will "carefully sort out your clothes and make them available in second hand shops across third world countries" or you could read that as keep and sell on anything that's worth it and bin the rest!! They also ask that you put your items in CLEAR view from the road WITH THIS LEAFLET................. *****
  12. Yay......DKH boycotting !!
  13. Liberality 10 are you GGS in disguise.......??
  14. There is a Neutrogena intensive cream that I use but yesterday I started using Aveeno, it seems really good and available on prescription for severe skin conditions. PS On special offer in Sainsburys 1/3 off aprox ?3 a tube at the moment
  15. Hi Alec john moore posted something re this same topic earlier this year, might be worth contacting him.
  16. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give MIND the time required to investigate this incident. I spoke with Paul Farmer at MIND this afternoon and there is a process which they as an organisation must follow and I fully appreciate and respect this. I hope LocalMama does too. I have sent you a PM
  17. Keef....Uncomfortable yes. My first thought was not to put this on the forum but to approach MIND directly. This did not prove productive. Because of a forum the Chief Exec's contact details were made available, who as I posted previously contacted me on Saturday night at 10.30PM. This certainly gave me the impression that MIND were taking it seriously. And I had hoped that MIND would have been afforded the time to carry out their investigation. Another forum seems to have suggested involving the Daily Mail. I did not think that it was appropriate to contact the Daily Mail, many don't deem this paper good enough to read, yet when publicity is required it's their first port of call. And as for the approach GMTV would have taken..........I would not have spoken with either. For me it's not just about what went on before but the manager's overreaction to it, we were sprayed with an aerosol, and that is indefensible.
  18. JDR......you, me and he makes three!! Watch this thread for an update!
  19. MIND are taking this matter seriously, thank goodness, please see other thread.........
  20. MIND are taking this matter very seriously indeed and as promised I have attached the reply from their Chief Exec received to my email tonight!! Dear Caroline, Thank you for your email and for bringing this to my attention. I want to reassure you that I am extremely concerned by the experience of the lady in our East Dulwich shop, and have asked the Managing Director of our shops network, Bob Monteath, to investigate this as soon as possible. I have written to the lady concerned to apologise for the distress that she has experienced, and we will be in touch with her in due course. As you witnessed the incident, I hope you will be happy for Bob or one of his colleagues to contact you for interview. I have received a number of emails today on this issue, and will respond to all of them in the next couple of days. Yours sincerely Paul Farmer Chief Executive, Mind Sent from my BlackBerry? wireless device
  21. LocalMama......I've replied to your PM Now that we are aware of what you're doing let's wait and see what kind of response you get. I have sent an email to the Chief Exec. If it's negative then I'm with SillyWoman a direct and non-aggressive approach with publicity. Is it realy true that a shop has the right to enter/look in an occupied changing room? Surely not?? Iaineasy, I'm not boycotting the MIND charity just the Grove Vale shop......I don't appreciate being sprayed without warning and given there were small children involved.....anyway the more I speak about this locally the more I hear about this man's rude and aggressive reputation. Now that I've seen it first hand it seems more than justified. I hope to get a reply from MIND and will post it on this thread.....
  22. Email address now available for The Chief Exec at MIND....... [email protected] Extreme behaviour often encourages/calls for an extreme response but I note what you say PGC.
  23. I'm up for it as are my kids !!!
  24. Dullwitch...... tattoos and facial piercings....very distinctive!
  25. Sillywoman....I requested an email contact but was only provided a postal address edited with email address see below....... Mr Monteith Managing Director of MIND Shops 15-19 Broadway Stratford London E15 4BQ I spoke with Frank Hawkins at the MIND HO, but given his responses and forced apology, I really don't feel his opinions to be any different to Steve, the manager at the East Dulwich shop. The Head Office number is 020 8534 4040 The Chief Execs email courtesy of a Mums Net poster....... [email protected] PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you have time or feel the urge.....complain about it, Facebook about it, tell you friends about it. When I prepare my letter I will be quoting this forum and thread.
