Felt like a good deed done. You did a good thing calling the fire brigade and knocking on the flat immediately above the shop. So did the two men who went into the shop via the shop's back door, what Phobic3000 probably didn't realize is that they were isolating the gas supply, encouraged the workers to leave and prevented water being used to put fire out. As Phobic3000 says the fire took hold very quickly. The smoke was thick and billowing into the flat above the neighbouring shop also, people were banging on that door too. It all happened very very quickly, the flames were touching the ceiling in Maxins in seconds. Well done to all who tried to help. I don't think it's fair to say nobody thought to knock on their door, it's at the side of building and I'm sure someone would have, fortunately you did.

Lowlander but 22 is not 20 or below as is now the rule, not being picky...honest! I do not drive often but I recently found it impossible on Denmark Hill to maintain a steady 20mph and Dulwich Fox makes an excellent point, pedestrians are crossing, sometimes with a false sense of security, as some cars are whizzing past on the inside in excess of the 20mph. Buses travelling along at 20mph...? How are Southwark managing/monitoring this?

Clothes moths wreaking havoc! how to get rid of?
FatherJack replied to EastDulwichRose's topic in The Lounge
JAYSUS!! PeckhamRose...nests??? The ?&@?!! are back in my home too, if they ever went away! I've sprayed, use traps but the bombs sound like a plan. I almost suffocated on the spray, is there a strong smell from the bombs? Last Spring/Summer I done a moth patrol each night/morning, killing any I could see, but what do the nests, larvae, caterpillar look like, can you actually see them? Currently my freezer is storing more fabric than food. -
I've just watched this as part of the Camberwell Free Film Festival. It's worth a watch and a share on any social media that you might use.

Look at Tesco mobile website as offers change. What is key for me is the safety buffer, you can set it at the minimum of ?2.50, so whatever monthly/PAYG payment is it can only be exceeded by ?2.50. So no scary bills!

Do not get the canister in Argos if you are preparing balloons 12 or more hours in advance. It's ok for immediate use but the balloons will last no more than 12 hours.

Over the past two weeks I have received two fines from Horizon Parking Services, they manage the car park for Sainsbury's. The first claimed my car was parked there for 6 hours and the second ticket for 9 hours. This has happened because I went to the store twice on both days, but outside of their no return within an hour. Their system isn't registering my car leaving the first time and arriving the second time. Whilst I'm told these fines carry no weight in a court of law, it's not always easy proving or remembering for that matter what you were doing 10-14 days earlier. Sainsbury's have authorised the cancellation of both tickets, as I had receipts and my address is local, so I wasn't using car park for easy access to train station or Kings.

The Dulwich Festival Events Guide describes the Festival Fair as a free event. Perhaps the organisers need to source a replacement provider for 2015?

Do it yourself. Go to VFS Goswell Rd, arrive early. It opens at 9am. I got there at 7.30am already 5 people in queue. Apply within 6 weeks of traveling especially if you have a non UK passport. If non UK you will need to provide two utility bills (one should be most recent and one not more than 13 months old...you should double check that) OR an address in the country your passport was issued. When visa ready you can collect at VFS between 4pm/5pm. They will email/text you when application is received, sent off to Embassy and when visa is ready. PM if you gave any other questions.

I have concerns about the involvement of Lord Nash given his track record, perhaps he'll appoint an unqualified Head or get his wife on board. Well done to Mr Barber and the Steering group for getting this off the ground. State education...why don't you get involved? -
Moth-proofed wool carpets - any positive/negative feedback?

Are the caterpillars too small to see? I thought/hoped I'd got a handle on this but I've seen a couple of moths...just hoping they weren't born in my home...but flew in. Crosses fingers! -

Today is lovely, tomorrow might not be. There is longevity in this thread. -
A lovely idea! Sillywoman we swapped with each another...yes? Loved mine, I have to say I was tempted to put "Plop" Top Trumps in as it's a big talking point on this forum, and my children love the game. Thank you Hollie!!
