  1. It may be possible to go and examine package without taking receipt of it. I done this with a delivery that did not have enough postage, when I saw what it was and who it was from I declined to take it, and asked to return it to sender.
  2. Weddings...a dilemma, political, minefield, controversial....... Wait til your MIL's sister throws a strop because she wasn't in enough pf the photos........tee hee! OP....as with the Bride and Groom, you must do what works for you and your baby.
  3. You could try online...here's one for example..... http://search.thompson-morgan.com/search#w=hydrangea%20plants&asug=
  4. If I were new to this forum I may have fallen for the recommendation made by the fake poster. If someone starts a thread about a specific group or service provided by someone, centres/people/organisations of a similar ilk should not jump on it UNLESS it's a thread requesting info about such a service. This thread is about McAlpine Dance School, and just so I remain on topic...I will consider McAlpine for my daughter when she is old enough way before a centre who creates fake accounts posing as BusyMums recommending their services...poor show!!
  5. Jumped in on another thread also http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,835003,862750#msg-862750 Moi cynical ??? Tee hee!
  6. Crikey did my mention of the previous unsavoury thread hit a raw "legal" nerve re SLDS.....it's gone and I didn't remove it...........curiouser and curiouser!
  7. BusyMum222...Fuschia started this thread about McAlpine Dance School, therefore perhaps you need to start a new thread specifically about SLDS ??? Or is this is a PR exercise in response to a very unsavoury thread (now deleted) about SLDS??
  8. See below............ Re: East Dulwich councillor - can I help? Posted by: James Barber Today, 05:01PM Hi FatherJack, Have made contact and trying to help this family. Council officers have agreed they weren't offered a place. So I've asked what will happen for this family. What is being done to search for others that mgiht have been missed and when will a revised press release be issued which might encourage other families to come forward who havent been offered a place. -------------------- Regards [email protected] 07903 964130 Liberal Democrat Councillor for East Dulwich Ward [www.jamesbarber.org.uk] [twitter.com] It does seem you were provided with duff information afterall, who'd have thought that of Southwark Education Services?
  9. JB, I will let my friend know about your offer of help. And for the record yes they are Southwark residents and yes the application was made before the deadline!
  10. Renata Yes my friend is a Southwark resident, hence why I quoted Mr Barber's response re Southwark applicants. Yes, applied on line in time, hence the email reply. And as I wrote previously no letter received as yet. This on time Southwark resident/applicant has yet to be offered a school place. Could it be that Southwark have provided you/Southwark News with duff information?

Can I ask who provided you with this information? It is incorrect as my friend's child has not received an offer at any school.
  12. James Barber posted this previously........ * All Southwark secondary school applicants have been offered a place for September 2012 Can I ask WHO provided you with this information? It is incorrect. My friend's child has yet to receive a letter and the email said, we are unable to offer you a school place at this time..........????
  13. I've read elsewhere on this forum that the HAED kids are bussed to DLC, bonkers but they may have very good reason for it, time restraints who knows. Once upon a time our primary school also employed a coach service to take kids swimming until we as parents said why? They now walk or catch the bus is the weather's bad.
  14. Herne Hill Student, whilst it is admirable that you have defended your teacher/employer(??) Ms Zoe's email is inexcusable and I feel certain (hope) that she is she is embarrassed by this and no doubt she is worried about any loss in business due to the bad PR. I too agree with giggirl.
  15. Today's conversation went like this........ Scammer: Are you at your computer? FJ: No but I can be S: Good, can you see the Windows Key? FJ: Yes S: Can you press Windows key and R R Does Windows appear? FJ: No my screen is blank S: Really? Are you fooling with me or do you want me to help you seriously? FJ: Yes please help me.....How do you know I have errors? S: Are you fooling with me? FJ: I might be fooling with you if this were a scam........... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP I managed to tidy up kitchen and throw some rubbish out whilst "checking" my computer! When I dialled 1471 I got the number below..... 00253820308
  16. M Golden.....I'm only too aware of Kingsdale's location as is my friend who lives on the Kingsmead Est 10 minutes walk if that from the school, who son started at Haberdasher Askes last September....but like I said them's the breaks and the criteria. I certainly wasn't suggesting that the issue with Southwark last year was down to Kingsdale....more down to the fact that in Southwark no two schools seem to have the same criteria blah blah blah (boring myself now!) I agree with you the whole secondary school process is a nightmare and fully appreciate your reasons for not supporting the ethos of Harris Academy. Sadly the worse it becomes parents may well have to ignore how they think or feel about a school whether it be for religious grounds, boys or girls only, academy etc because the places aren't available. And NO I don't think this is how it should be. As there are obviously people on here living outside of Southwark I wonder are you aware of a school like Kingsdale (ie same criteria) in your borough that Southwark parents might apply for their child? Please feel free to PM with that info as I do not want to hijack this thread.
  17. Debster999....You must be chuffed that the Southwark school Kingsdale welcomes applications from all over London and not just Southwark residents. Last year 42 Southwark children received NO offer of a school. This is NO offer, Southwark were unable to offer them a place at any school as there were no places available. So it irks somewhat when you hear that Kingsdale cater for children from far and wide when other boroughs do not offer Southwark kids the same unconditional opportunity. But them's the breaks and more relevantly the criteria!
  18. Heavens above....me a priest? No! But then again nor am I a Father However I do like a "DRINK"
  19. SCAM SCAM SCAM It's a scam, they tell you your Windows program is infected......I told them I'm not using Windows, they put the phone down! On the other hand my husband, who clearly had too much time on his hand (and knew it was a scam) spoke with them for 30 minutes and encouraged them to call back the following day when he would be with the computer. Recently there was a similar thread started...I think it's in the Lounge....
  20. Very sad...... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-24036289-blitz-hero-left-for-dead-by-hit-and-run-driver.do
  21. Re M Golden's reply..... There was a response in Guardian Money section (last Saturday or previous Saturday) saying same. If I haven't recycled I will PM you info.
  22. Usually a positive response from Ofsted is something to celebrate and you would want to share that with staff?? But perhaps they are waiting until published as I know Ofsted frown upon early disclosure on Facebook/internet forums etc...... Westof....where you child goes to school is not necessarily where you would choose to send you child, as has been mentioned previously.
  23. Willard...we've done that but after the fifth call it's a bit boring but hilarious when you keep them on phone for ages dangling that carrot and get them to call back. They called me yesterday, saying exactly the same thing "your Windows software is exposed to fatal errors blah blah" How do you know I said and when I said I didn't have a Windows system, they put the phone down on me! Bloody cheek......it really is a scam!
  24. Who represents Charter on this forum? My understanding is that every school in represented.
  25. Intexasatthe moment......perhaps they have been forced to admit that in Southwark it's not fair, straightforward or easy for parents/carers to understand.....and as for "does not disadvantage children" ...pah! Edited to say however I would love to know why they've given up......
