I?ve seen drivers overtake stationary vehicles on the stop line at a red light, go around the wrong side of the splitter island to jump the light, just to get as quickly as possible to the next queue of traffic.

I hate people who drive through red lights, selfish f#ckers. All the intergreens are having to be increased (the time between one light going red and the next one going green) to give a larger safety period to accommodate these w@nkers so they don?t cause some hideous accident. What it means to you and I is more queuing and waiting at traffic lights... unless you jump the lights

I think you mean they?ve added a defection into roundabout to slow vehicles on the approach. Not good on this roundabout owing to its size, as rightly said by someone above is that cycles and motorcyclists get squeezed between vehicles and the buildout used to create the deflection. Southwark under best practice should have undertaken a road safety audit (ask for it). There isn?t a mandatory requirement to do these on local roads only on highways agency roads but knowing Southwark they would have done one.

I was thinking of this as an option of changing the priority of traffic on Lordship Lane and providing an uncontrolled crossing with pedestrian refuge island at the new junction.

I requested the accident statistics for this junction last time we talked about this issue. There is no real collision problem recorded at this junction and therefore will not be on the council?s road safety action list. Your best bet is to hassle your local councillor so see if they can force something through and get some money out a non-road safety budget.

Half my team are out surveying the routes for the majors? new cycle super highway schemes today. I can?t wait to see how watered down and pathetic they will end up after the big media spin! They will end up as a few blue signs, some coloured surface course and some white lining as ultimately it seems in this country that one person in a car is more important than one person on a push bike. Depends what you want to do. Take the shortest route as the crow flies and sit in traffic and be delayed by endless sets of traffic lights. Once you?re through Blackwall. There is one set of traffic lights for the A13 then that is it. You?re doing 40mph by Mile End and 50mph by Stratford on two and three lane dual carriageways. I know its longer but there is nothing more frustrating than not moving I prefer to be moving! The best I?ve ever got to the M25 is 30 mins from Peckham Rye Park. Yes, sat nav is shite
