  1. Tomorrow?s park run in Dulwich Park has been cancelled
  2. There?s a lot going on in this space @Wasely, cargo bikes are everywhere delivering where once cars or vans did. The potential to reduce polluting vehicle journeys is huge.
  3. See here that they?ll be launching another one on Northcross Rd soon
  4. Are children not also a protected group?
  5. Nice that lots of people are using it already. https://instagram.com/peddlemywheels?utm_medium=copy_link Interesting to see the same company does ?Try Before You Buy? rental bike schemes (subsidised by Southwark council), with cargo bikes, kids bikes and electric bikes. Wishing them all the best!
  6. I see a few mentions of the idling coaches from the independent schools - this is run by the Foundation Coach Service, maybe people should email their Transport Manager to complain? https://www.dulwich.org.uk/foundation-schools-coach-service/contact
  7. The Dulwich Alliance petition on Southwark's website called for an 'Area-wide, camera-controlled permit scheme' https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?ID=500000057&RPID=774218585&HPID=774218585
  8. Depressingly every day on every street. Years ago I thought it was a lack of awareness, but now it seems to be pure selfish entitlement eg I want to be warm / charge my phone / pretend I?m not really parked on double yellow lines, with no regard to everyone else breathing in their fumes. Same goes for wood burning, people kid themselves an eco-burner is ?clean? without caring about the impact on their neighbours.
  9. Do you support the Dulwich Alliance who are lobbying for a camera-controlled permit scheme @metallic? Presumably this is what the Conservative candidates for Dulwich Village will be promising also, given their close ties with ?the alliance?. 10. If only there was some way to avoid these fines. 11. When was traffic on East Dulwich Grove at 8am ever not bad Heartblock? You paint a picture that it was so much better before, but I remember very clearly it always being bad. You have your view, I have mine - they differ but thankfully we have evidence in the form of traffic data - which shows traffic is significantly reduced for the largest section, between Melbourne Grove and Townley (where the Charter school, health centre and Dutch Estate is).
  12. Dulwich Alliance isn?t a separate group though, it?s an ?alliance? of One Dulwich with a few other groups. So the claim that One Dulwich was ever not politically motivated is dubious.
  13. Excellent appointment to an important role - Chris Boardman to be the new commissioner for Active Travel England https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jan/22/walking-cycling-safe-england-mother-driver-travel-strategy?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  14. Good idea - unfortunately it?s got the stage where no matter what a councillor says some will twist it and interpret it in a way to suit their agenda. Cllr Leeming was helpfully informing people of the Thames Water works, he?s right it probably will be quicker to walk or cycle if you can possibly avoid driving. That?s true of most travel in London. jazzer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Perhaps bring this back to the topic, rather than > go of at various unconnected tangent's. > > If you want to talk about cllrs/MP, how about > starting a separate thread.
  15. Your regular reminder that it wasn?t ?the vast majority of residents? but the vast majority of respondents. Two very different things, yet some struggle to tell the difference. Bic Basher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Two Dulwich Village Cllrs along with other Labour > Cllrs in other Dulwich wards supported pushing > through a LTN scheme that wasn't supported by the > vast majority of residents, yet the attitude of > one particular Village Ward Cllr has stunk since > the start and now to pass the buck is a typical > politicians response when they're in power.
  16. Looks like pedal-me are looking at doing cargo bike school runs with DBS checked riders. This could be a better option for getting children to school instead of an SUV.
  17. Disagree with suddenly removing filters from streets which have been made safer - to suddenly have through traffic rushing down say Melbourne Grove, where the school kids are, would be dangerous.
  18. Came across these videos which clearly explain the forthcoming changes (from 29th Jan) to The Highway Code, giving priority to the most vulnerable road users.
  19. Extending the CPZ hours to include school drop off times would help stop parents parking on Village Way, or better still - install a cycle path!
  20. It?s great that cargo bikes deliveries are taking off in the area, I see a wide variety of companies using them to get about. Better cycling infrastructure gives them a competitive edge. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/jan/20/cargo-without-carbon-the-rise-and-rise-of-e-bike-deliveries This website is great if you?d like to support businesses choosing to deliver their services / goods by bike - lots of options for SE22 postcode http://broughtbybike.com/findacompany/
  21. The 'polluter pays principle' - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polluter_pays_principle#:~:text=Some%20eco-taxes%20underpinned%20by%20the%20polluter%20pays%20principle,waste%20sites%2C%20when%20the%20polluters%20can%20be%20identified.
  22. This flyer is good from Mums for Lungs. I've just seen that you can order them for free from their website if you want to share with neighbours (under 'Resources').
  23. There is plenty of car storage on East Dulwich Grove, unless you ignore the mansions with huge driveways and multiple cars. This constant ?them? v ?us? narrative is unhelpful @heartblock heartblock Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think you would find many > residents on boundary roads would not have such an > issue with that 'policy' as they do not possess > car storage - but do take a walk down Calton Ave > and Gilkes Crescent - car storage private roads > for the ultra-wealthy and I think you might see > who would object.
  24. Thanks for raising awareness on this. So few people are aware just how dangerous their wood burners are (both to themselves and their neighbours). Today would be a really good day to avoid driving too, if you want to avoid adding to the dangerous levels of pollution.
  25. I wonder how they know which party the people on their mailing list belong to?
