  1. This petition from local residents close to Dulwich Common deserves support: https://www.change.org/p/implement-a-zebra-crossing-on-dulwich-common-for-pedestrian-safety?recruited_by_id=4c26ae30-d2bd-11ef-b821-a91b8472e567&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_term=psf&utm_medium=copylink
  2. Beware of this dangerous driver.
  3. It’s all as per the consultation - both Gilkes and part of Calton are shown as a PPA or ‘Permit Parking Area’.
  4. 20mph zones really aren’t self enforcing, as this worrying local example from today illustrates.
  5. See Restricted Parking Zone https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/parking/places-park/restricted-parking-zones
  6. The police can barely manage to do any enforcement or tackling of dangerous drivers - I see dangerous speeding and mobile phone use every day. Last week I cycled past a driver watching a movie on his phone whilst turning out of a junction! It seems road danger is sadly no longer a priority, not sure how that is consistent with the Vision Zero strategy.
  7. One Dulwich seems to be largely represented by Richard Aldwinkle, frequently noted as their spokesperson in press. He’s known for comparing Dulwich Square to the Berlin Wall on Twitter, yet ironically criticises the LTN for stoking division. The contradictions are hard to ignore.
  8. By East Dulwich station many drivers use the loading bay to grab their coffee from Pret opposite. Obviously not what a loading bay is intended for.
  9. The good news is the signs on Calton Ave have been amended to remove the mention of a 1 hour max.
  10. Or the most likely option is it’s simply an error (as that bit of Calton Ave is resident permit only) and the sign needs replacing to remove the mention of a 1 hr max.
  11. Recommend emailing your local councillors and MP
  12. Presume the one on Calton is an error as it’s resident permit parking so a 1 hr max doesn’t apply.
  13. If only there was some way for drivers to avoid being fined…
  14. It’s temporary, the Dulwich Estate is due to finish the section by the shops soon.
  15. Thank you to St Barnabas Church for a lovely carol service with their children’s choir and brass band in Dulwich Square - hundreds of people gathering, a special event!
  16. That’s an extra sign isn’t it? The one with the timings was still there recently.
  17. Off topic much? This is a CPZ thread.
  18. If you spot it, it’s worth reporting as the Southwark website says they aim to clean within 48hrs. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/street-care/dog-poo
  19. The ‘Our Bike’ community cargo bike might be an option, especially if you have some other shopping to do nearby on the Old Kent Rd. You can hire the bike by the hour, and there are two available in East Dulwich. https://ourbike.co.uk/
  20. Trossachs Road is worth walking to, lovely advent windows.
  21. St Barnabas Church will be hosting carols in the square on Christmas Eve at 3:30pm. It's always a heartwarming occasion to see the community come together and enjoy the festive spirit in this beautiful space.
  22. This is all disingenuous nonsense. I haven't seen a single mention from those concerned about 'dangerous cycling' regarding the motorcyclists speeding through illegally—one of whom collided with a 14-year-old girl riding her bike—or the fact that concrete blocks and other barriers have had to be placed to prevent reckless drivers from mounting the curb and driving through pedestrian areas.
  23. It’s obvious which version is safer, and also which version has allowed more children than ever to be walking and cycling to school. Nicely illustrated by this photo comparison in a recent post from Clean Air Dulwich. https://bsky.app/profile/cleanairdulwich.bsky.social/post/3ld6usq4qbs2a
  24. Agree, the roads would be a much safer place if the speed of drivers was restricted to the speed limit.
