  1. Seems I can't walk anywhere without seeing drivers speeding, distracted by their mobile phone, dangerously parking across junctions, idling etc... They are in charge of huge heavy vehicles that can do serious damage yet take none of the care needed. Do they fear no consequences with police resources seemingly unable to tackle this?
  2. Parking restrictions are 100% a positive step forwards and without doubt will reduce the number of car journeys in the area. I’ve already heard from friends in the proposed Dulwich Village zone who have made the decision to get rid of their cars, since this consultation started - seems it was the final nudge they needed.
  3. He said that the cost of living crisis affects everyone in the borough, not just car owners in Dulwich.
  4. Booking is required via Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dulwich-hill-streets-for-people-consultation-event-tickets-673617617427?aff=oddtdtcreator
  5. @Rockets I'm sure you're aware but this is not correct - they are not 'Tory councillors'. They stood as Conservative candidates to become local councillors and failed.
  6. I’m pleased the council is going ahead with the school street. It’s been sorely needed for many years. Some messages in this thread seem to assume everyone is travelling by car, not everyone does of course, thankfully!
  7. It’s a mailing list, nothing more. Given One Dulwich’s spokesperson made abhorrent comparisons between planters and the Berlin Wall I imagine their credibility is shot, and it’s absolutely right for our MP to ask for details about who they are representing. I suspect a dwindling number.
  8. Mums for Lungs do a good free flyer about woodburning that can be ordered online. Maybe pop it through doors with a woodpile outside to help raise awareness? Agree it’s a serious problem. https://www.mumsforlungs.org/resources-and-downloads
  9. Do you mean the pedestrian crossing?
  10. A traffic signal has failed and this is now news?! Where was ‘One Dulwich’ / Richard Aldwinkle with his faux concern when the traffic lights failed last weekend at the East Dulwich Grove junction with Townley Rd? That was dangerous.
  11. The monitoring data shows all roads have less traffic than pre covid, with the exception of the ends of East Dulwich Grove (central is down) and Burbage Rd. This data is pretty old though, would be good to see it refreshed.
  12. A reminder that monitoring data on the whole shows reduced vehicle journeys in this area since pre covid. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/transport-and-roads/improving-our-streets/live-projects/streetspace/traffic-data-analysis
  13. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 3536/09Nov https://southwarknews.co.uk/featured/police-tracing-man-after-sexual-assault-of-woman-on-lordship-lane/
  14. I’ve been through the square a few times this weekend and every time there have been lots of people benefitting from having somewhere to sit. Great it’s so close to Au Ciel, they were taking customer’s coffees and cakes over to people wishing to sit on the benches.
  15. It’s low cost, temporary and uses upcycled wood while the permanent design is being developed. Seating is needed. It seems there are people in the village who simply like to complain. Too cheap = complain. Too expensive = complain.
  16. Saw lots of children having fun, enjoying the wooden marble run that’s underneath the notice board there today. The cafe owner said how much she loves it, and the cheese shop are happy that something positive is being done with the space.
  17. Given the new seating doesn’t feature in either of the permanent designs I think we can assume it’s temporary.
  18. The gate is meant to be locked at dusk. Sainsbury’s is responsible.
  19. The new seating is great - colourful, functional, sustainable! Brilliant that the legacy of the Colour Pavilion by BAME artist Yinka Ilori continues in Dulwich https://www.dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk/about/news-blog/2020/february/the-colour-palace-planters/
  20. Yes it is off-topic, but interested to know exactly what is worrying about a council tackling dangerous speeding?? I would love Southwark to do the same. The roads aren’t safe with drivers regularly ignoring and greatly exceeding the 20mph limit.
  21. Which school? Might be worth making them aware.
  22. Agreed, they all look a mess.
  23. Wasn?t aware that school was in Southwark, as the article suggests
  24. Thanks for the reminder rahrahrah. I?m always amazed at the comments that there is increased pollution when there is zero evidence for it. People are entitled to their own opinions of course, but there is only one set of facts and as you say - active travel is up, vehicles journeys down. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just a reminder that latest data shows traffic is > down at all monitored sites, compared with pre > pandemic levels.
