  1. These changes are fantastic news! Bizarre that people can be against them, but this is the East Dulwich Forum!

Or you?re pro more car congestion. Well said. I heard a stat the other day that 1 in 7 car journeys in London is under 1km - this isn't sustainable. Making the car the least convenient option and at the same time creating safer spaces for people to walk and cycle is essential.

Might be an issue with the middle of the road being a school entrance...reversing vehicles and children don't mix too well. It's a shame an 'eco' shop is objecting to this so soon. It's less than a week since the planters were installed, Week 1 is too soon to make a rational assessment on the actual impact - the 'it will kill our business' talk is fear, fear of change (totally understandable given the tough trading climate). Give it time. Anyone driving to these shops still can.
  4. Why ?harmful?? Customers needing to drive will still be able to. People walking and cycling spend more time and money in local shops so making a road safer for both those categories could be beneficial.
  5. Remembering that you?ve previously said you are part of One Dulwich, this post and your views are not surprising. It smacks of sour grapes. I went to the first event and it was great. Very much the opposite of the division One Dulwich refers to. Elderly people bringing chairs with them to sit for a short while and enjoy lovely music, whilst the cafe was doing a roaring trade of ice creams. slarti b Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The junction of Calton Avenue, Court Lane and > Dulwich Village was temporarily closed off under > emergency measures on the basis this would help > the fight against Covid by allowing social > distancing. > > However, an organisation has used this opportunity > to promote a series of concerts and other events > in the closed off area. 6. Agree signage could be better but unfortunately drivers will still ignore in the hope that can get through. They'll figure it out soon, and when Waze / Google maps update it will improve. Out of interest what's the worst time for the traffic on Ashbourne, or is it constant throughout the day? lpool Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > My wife witnessed what was very nearly a serious > accident today at the Nelbourne Grove blockade. 8. What are the specific measures onedulwich is proposing first mate? Do you have any details? Which roads? How would the traffic physically be restricted at peak times? first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Starting somewhere is convincing schools and > parents who drive their children to and from > school to start walking, cycling and using public > transport, has there been much in the way of > active campaigning within schools and between > parent groups? > > Through traffic is a slightly different matter as, > after all, we have to weigh the impact on the > economy, not to mention vulnerable groups, if we > shut down road after road. 9. Removing 7000 traffic movements a day would be great! Thanks for the info slarti b - I've looked at the website but struggling to find the detailed alternative plan. Are you proposing the same permeable filters for Area A & C as OHS proposed, so Melbourne Grove / Turney & Burbage? How physically would you ban traffic in Area B at certain times only? Are you proposing all the same roads as were mentioned in OHS, Eynella, Townley Rd, Dulwich Village etc....? thanks
  10. Thanks Abe_ do you know physically how they would ban traffic? On which roads? At what times? thanks
  11. It's great to see support for the aims of Healthy Streets from the onedulwich group. I'm interested to know specifically how the group proposes to achieve the stated aims of 'reducing traffic volumes, improving air quality and making cycling and walking easier and safer'?
