  1. Mayne suffers from SADP syndrome (that's short arm, deep pocket syndrome).
  2. "Oh no, how terrible. It?s a sign of the times, what with WW3 breaking out and all. How did you survive no Daily Mirror for a day and worse still the poor hapless staff not falling on their knees with apologies before a tax payer. I really feel for you, the world is so unjust." 👍👍👍👍 😂😂😂😂
  3. Which will be further incurred through Khan's increase to Council Tax Bill's in the region annually of ?31.93, the increase consists of ?20 for transport, ?10 for policing and crime and ?1.93 for the London Fire Brigade)Plus an 8.8% Council Tax increase. Inflation up (5.7%) Energy bills up 60% Food up (every damn week) Council Tax hiked up 8.8+% Surprisingly household incomes down And "Passengers will no longer be required to wear masks on London's buses, trains and trams, mayor Sadiq Khan has said" Khan said he also "expected" to lift the requirement to wear a face covering as a "condition of carriage". But he urged passengers to "be considerate of their fellow Londoners" and to continue choosing to wear masks on public transport, unless exempt. So Khan isn't enforcing mask wearing BUT urged passengers to "be considerate of their fellow Londoners" and to continue choosing to wear masks on public transport, unless exempt. Well that's all as clear as MUD.
  4. And breath........................... As a heads up for anyone who cuts through from Forest Hill Road to Honor Oak Road, there will be filming taking place on the Horniman Heights, Feb 22nd, so traffic lights on Canonbie, Netherby, Westwood Park and probably at junctionn with Honor Oak Road.

  6. Article on the front page of today's Daily Telegraph (bottom righthand corner) says water meters can be forced on householders. See https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/E24B/production/_123313975_the-tele-nc.png

  8. Storm Eunice hits London and so far it's not looking too bad. But here we go with the next Going home for the Weekend tune, it's one heck of a a banger of a track, thanks Stretch for sharing this one with me. Double Exposure, "Everyman (Has To Carry His Own Weight"
  9. P68 - I hear what you are saying about meter enforcement. Clearly you are not happy and want to continue on the rateable value. So first question what is your annual water bill? Mine on a meter is about ?260 a year. I agree that TW are negligent in both managing the network, lack of a plan to replace mains, especially in East Dulwich, Forest Hill, Peckham etc, BUT if you take a look at a lot of the current and recent works they are Thames Water working on upgrading the network. And yes it's well overdue. And Yes, they still need to be far more proactive about reducing the amount of water lost and wasted from bursts and leaks. I agree OFWAT is weak, but as are many other "regulators" The water companies will not cut people off, so that one can be parked immediately, will water run out, I hope not.
  10. I am not nor have I ever been one

    Andrew

Yeah he finally admits his guilt and shame by making a substantial settlement payment, probably from the Royal Estate, oh that's us the Tax Payer, so we have to pay for his misdemeanours. Locking away in the Tower of London is far too good for Andrew, I can think of a far better punishment than that for him.
  12. Water meters have been with us for 35+ plus years, smart water meters are new technology. I appreciate that P68 is not on a water meter and probably does not want a smart water meter. People have had a long time to adapt, as I said previously, I've had a smart water meter for probably 18+ months and so far no problem.

    Dick?s Out

The same could be said of Khan for his lack of financial control of TfL that he should also go now.
  14. I have one such "smart meter" which was fitted 18 months ago and my charges have been based solely on the amount of water used, so far there has been no indication that the costs are being determined by peak or off peak timings. I guess this is a possibility bearing in mind the recent press reports of how some energy companies (OK, three so far) are intending to alter the costs throughout the day. I suspect Thames Water are using this is one way of reducing the "costs" of a man coming twice a year to read the water meter in the pavement, very similar to the way energy meter readers of gas and electricity are being slowly phased out. How often do you see one and if you do, they are not from your energy company, but have been sub contracted out to a third party who "specialise" in meter reading. Arghhhhhhhhhhh. So yes, water meters are being made "smart" And avoid a smart energy meter unless you want a bill that may charge you a different rate up to 48 times a day. In last Thursday's Daily Telegraph (no, it's not my daily paper) it was the neighbours after I saw the front banner about how a journalist objected to energy smart meters (well worth a read).

  18. Some people just seem to like whinging even though the original post is something positive that you'd assume those affected would be happy to learn about.

  20. and here we go again, (you have highlighted a very old chesnut), SO can we keep this thread about what the title says "New electric double-deck buses will be running on route 63"
  21. New electric double-deck buses will be running on route 63 which runs between Forest Hill and King?s Cross. These buses are part of our growing fleet of over 500 zero-emission* buses and will help improve air quality in London. These new buses will have high back seating throughout the bus, USB charging points and mobile phone holders in the seats, improved information screens. Our priority seats have new covers so they can be quickly identified to make travel easier. The new buses are part of the improvements we have been making to the service on route 63 and will continue to roll out over the coming months. For more information on this change, visit our buses page. Our TfL Go app provides information on real-time bus arrivals and status updates. You can use the TfL Go app to plan step-free journeys. All of our bus routes are served by low-floor vehicles, with a dedicated space for one wheelchair user and an access ramp. Wherever you're going, our network can be used safely. Our services are well ventilated with fresh air, but please continue to keep windows open on buses Please remember, you must continue to wear a face covering over your nose and mouth on all TfL services and stations, unless you are exempt. Yours sincerely, Louise Cheeseman Director of Buses

  23. RSPCA have taken both cats while an investigation is conducted. He should be banned from keeping animals for life, heavily fined and the two cats re-homed elsewhere.
  24. Well, why can't the practice see its own patients rather than passing the work load onto the Tessa Jowell centre? Do they not have sufficient GP's at FHRGP to see patients? If not tell the patients that. If you go to a hospital out patient appointment they see patients who wait in a waiting room area, so why can't FHRGP see patients and not make them queue up outside? They have lots of roof lights they can open to circulate air, they have an entrance door and the back door as an exit point, so what's wrong with them seeing patients? An example - Was told I "needed" to have a long term health condition check with a Health Care Assistant, eventually was offered a double appointment because that was what was "apparently" needed. I was seen by a new qualified (HCA), he took my weight, height and blood pressure and spent 20 mins doing this. Could have been done in a 10min slot. What did I gain from the appointment, nothing, its a tick box exercise by FHRGP. They really need to get themselves sorted
