  1. Have pm'd you with an update you may well find useful. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That makes sense. My reasons are pretty spurious!
  2. Whilst battery cars maybe the future, what appears to be conveniently over looked is where is the power coming from to make and charge all these batteries and the inadequacy of charging points across the UK? Issues already exist with the reliability of electric vehicles, some "dying" after a minimum of three years, and a requirement for batteries to be replaced. How will these be disposed of safely? And how will electric vehicles eventually be scrapped when some are inevitably written off? The "green agenda" is driving these changes, but all changes have impacts and consequences.
  3. Was a burst on Dunoon rd, SE23 which knocked out a large part of the area. It was fixed after about 19hrs.
  4. Unfortunately I doubt we will ever return to the life we lived pre-Feb 2020. Life has changed and precautions as designated by this or future Governments will in some manner remain going forward. Hopefully a slow approach to the easing of the lockdown, monitoring and reacting to the effects, rather than a fast and furious return to everyday life may be the way forward.
  5. Try these if meats not your thing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/diets/vegetarian
  6. Check out https://www.bbc.co.uk/food to get inspiration if needed. IMO these boxes are an expensive fad. Take a wonder around the fresh fruit and veg aisle in the supermarket, lots of choice to help contribute to a meal. Buy some minced beef, pork or lamb, a couple of onions, two or three carrots, a handful of mushrooms, a pack of knorr stock pot which ever one you like. A bit of plain flour, salt, pepper, even chilli flakes for a bit of heat, or fennel seeds for a different flavour (what ever you like) Dice the onions and carrots and soften in the pan. remove and brown off the mince. Add the veg back in, add a table spoon or two of the plain four. Stir around for a couple of minutes, add in some water, add two stock pots, slice the mushrooms and scatter on the top. Simmer gently, till the mushrooms have softened and it can be served with mash or pasta, or croquettes or just with some crusty bread, what ever you choose. A simple filling meal. Rice pudding Grease an oven dish with butter, take 100g pudding or Short grain rice, 25g brown or caster sugar, add 700ml milk, a couple of handfuls of sultanas or raisins, top with some ground cinnamon powder. Place in the oven (top shelf) at Gas Mark 1, bake for about 60 - 75mins, till it just wobbles and the milk has been taken up by the rice. A quick and simple hot pudding. Done. Serve with a dollop of jam, cream, or a bit of milk, again whatever takes your fancy.
  7. Right, try calling the 119 number to speak with someone, it's a maze of menu's that does not include an option to speak with someone. If the process is not simple and straight forward I believe people may get fed up and not bother. (although I feel Everyone should be vaccinated) Eventually spoke to someone and was told it would be my Practice which put me in the group I am in and the NHS can't change that. One of the staff at the surgery today said it was the NHS the other said it was the surgery who categorised patients. So no clarity there then. Funnily having spoken with the dept I am under at Kings, who said the opposite, that I was deemed to be in the vulnerable group and should be vaccinated. I was offered a vaccination today. The process at Kings was efficient, effective and very well organised. As an add on to this, it was clear that those being vaccinated were of a wide range of ages.
  8. That was my experience, but you believe you know better!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Booking a vaccination slot is not straight forward, lots of menu's to navigate, continual referrals to the NHS website and very difficult to speak to a person. Well Matt, if you don't make it simple, no wonder people are becoming dis-illusioned in getting the jab.
  10. So. Part of Forest Hill rd, Outside Tessa Jowelll centre, Lordship lane Goose Green end But, earlier both sides of Langton Rise road and pavement still snowy. Any way, I think Southwark are doing a good job in relation to this.
  11. A big thank you to the guys from the council out there now gritting the pavements and making them safe.

  13. Admin, keep doing what you're doing, a great job running this forum.
  14. Agreed, I have no issue with the staff, it was the security guard I took issue with.
  15. New Lidl up the top end of the Old Kent Road in the former Toys are Us unit.

    Sausages

Agreed, they where a local institution in Peckham and Camberwell that no longer exist, selling sausages, pies, sliced meats and cheese etc. Sadly nothing similar exists. Sausages

I do like a nice big sausage, oh Matron!! But seriously, there are lots of butchers in the vicinity, some closer than others to choose from that you can try out and find the sausage you most enjoy. I prefer mine with buttery mashed potato, peas and onion gravy.
  18. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck OPEN SEASON
  19. I assure you Coop have already progressed it to Area Manager level and I am awaiting a phone call once the wrongful stop has been investigated. I actually felt violated being stopped in the street as I had done NOTHING wrong, hence making a scene of it. The guard is not employed directly by Coop but by a large corporation called Mitie. Yes he made a mitie error of judgement.

Yes I did, as I had been wrongly stopped having been an honest PAYING customer with a receipt for the goods I had purchased. I paid for my Three items at the self checkout, thank God I printed the receipt. I then put the items in the carrier bag I was re-using, on top of the the shopping I'd done in another store earlier. I left the store and outside, I was "invited" to return which I happily did. The security guards excuse was he stopped me because I was using my own re-usable carrier bag. Really................... I was extremely annoyed and angry at being incorrectly stopped, that's why I raised my voice, swore (incorrectly) and loudly and made a massive scene. If the guard had been watching properly he would have seen that I had paid by card for my goods. I asked the security guard guard to get the store manager, I was initially presented with someone from bakery (not the store manager) who claimed to be in charge, then a team leader appeared again saying he was in charge (and again not the store manager), finally an acting manager appeared. Each time I had to repeat what had happened. If you had been stopped incorrectly having not done anything wrong, no doubt you'd be annoyed as well. And the alarms did not go off either. I invited the store to call the Police which they naturally and unsurprisingly declined.
  21. No not a bitter post, I explained what happened to me. I don't take to being accused of being a thief when I had paid for my goods and had a receipt as proof of purchase. The security guard had clearly not been watching and made a rash and WRONG stop. And yes it has been reported to them.
