Yep but more often than not the first test of the summer is played at lords. This year the Welsh Assembly bunged the ECB some readies to have it in Cardiff. According to the press (and Steve Harmison) they?re going to prepare a flat wicket to try to ensure 5 days play. Cardiff has a reputation of turning from day one though and England has 2 spinners (well 3 if you include Pietersen) as opposed to Australia?s 1.

By pointing out meal-making of the media coverage I?m by no means condoning the Burger?s actions, I don?t think any South African would (except our esteemed coach of course), I just spoke to my mom back home who described it as, ?Bloody stupid especially for a respected player at that level.? I don?t think I can sum it up better. Personally I?m very conservative when it comes to playing sport within the spirit of the rules, which is why I don?t bother watching soccer even though I grew up playing it. I find cricket and rugby are played for the most part within the spirit of the rules I suppose this is also what makes it seem so unforgivable when serious and obvious transgression does happen.

Well the IRB decision was that the action was unsporting but without intent. (I think) Although I?m not entirely sure how you can be unintentionally unsportsmanlike.

I find the opposite. I buy from Green and Blue because I don?t know much about wine. The staff/owners as well informed, the wines are well described and (because I suspect they are quite selective on what they put on the shelves) I have not yet been disappointed by any of their wines.

This De Villiers character is a bit of a joke, he?s that drunk guy you meet in the pub who thinks he?s an expert on everything but just ends up embarrassing himself. Apparently he isn?t even involved in the training that much. I suspect his appointment is more political than anything else. He does have a point about the British press though. Their sense for, often ill-informed, sporting melodrama is second to none. All the press has to say about rugby at the moment is, eye-gouging this and eye-gouging that when the IRB has been quite clear that no eye-gouging occurred. Then there is the, ferocious test this and brutal match that. Have these journalists ever watched a match between the Springboks and the All Blacks and seen how ferocious proper rugby is?
