  1. I wonder if anyone has ever academically explored the phenomenon of apostolic atheism.
  2. I really like WKD Blue.
  3. Dogs have evolved an amazing range of diversity in only 10?20 thousand years. Granted it has mostly involved getting weaker, dumber and uglier but there you go. Just saying like.
  4. I remember once being in a pub that was very nice and being surprised when I found out it was a JD Ws. I can?t remember where or when it was though but I?m almost definitely sure that it is a genuine memory and not something I made up. So there you go.
  5. Fuck me sideways!
  6. I assume by Cyanistes Caeruleus you are referring to the unfortunate consequences of the recent cold snap. As I advised young William it is the wrong time of year and he would be better off taking his telephoto lens and twitching in warmer climes until the sun blesses our shores once more.
  7. Go to the Dog and drink Harveys. At a little over ?2 a pint it?s the cheapest option at the moment. Well apart from going to the common and drinking cider.
  8. Yeah it is a bit uncomfortable isn?t it? Although, I remember a time when it was all tits and willies around here.
  9. I have tackled this question as I do most of life?s pressing issues. I looked it up on wikipedia. And apparently: ?The Meaning of Life is a 1983 musical comedy film by the Monty Python comedy team. Unlike the two previous films they had made, which had more or less each told single, coherent stories, The Meaning of Life returns to the sketch comedy format of the troupe's original television series, loosely structured as a series of comic skits about the various stages of life. It was the last major Monty Python production.? So there you have it.
  10. Warning! Making friends in East Dulwich is very bad for your liver But ultimately very good for your soul, even if some of them don?t believe in things like souls.
  11. Jeeze are Bulgarian nannies and American lifestyle consultants not enough? Now in their quest to be like celebrities ordinary people want their own stalkers too.
  12. "Black" means different things to different people in different places for different reasons. In Britain it seems to refer to anyone with any visible African ancestry (even if the last true African in their line lived 400 years ago.) This is very simplistic and I don't think it can really be a valid standpoint from which to formulate an opinion on global race dynamics.
  13. Here is an interesting article by a highly respected commentator. It says just as much about us and the way we look at the world as it does about our future under America. http://www.mg.co.za/article/1970-01-01-obama-we-should-dry-our-eyes-quickly
  14. True but perhaps we assume that because we come from a culture where rationalism and individual responsibility are concepts that actually exist within our world view whether we choose to adopt them or not. But that is a whole different anthropological question.
  15. David Boon ? For his drinking and moustache wearing abilities. Shane Warne ? For being the most innovative and entertaining bowler of modern times despite being Australian. Rodney Mullen ? For essentially inventing modern skateboarding. John McEnroe ? For shouting a lot. Diego Maradona ? For infuriating just about everybody.

So has organised government, organised politics, organised idealism, organised liberation, organised social reform, organised industrialisation and organised commerce. So don?t be so hard on religion it?s being organised that seems to be humanity?s problem.
  17. Hmm... I find your views intriguing, do you have a leaflet or perhaps a news letter to which I could subscribe? Now if only they could apply such amazing deduction to the questions, ?Why god exists and everything in the bible is true??
  18. Isn't it actually in Camberwell?
  19. With such intelligent marketing techniques we really don?t have a chance do we.

    Bad Santa

One Christmas growing up a friend of my parents joined us just before lunch and spent the rest of Christmas with us. I remember thinking it strange as his wife wasn?t with him. A few years later when I asked my folks about it, I learned that his wife had thrown him out because he had got her a set of pots and pans for Christmas.

I?m sure Sainsbury?s, Morrison?s, Tesco etc will all be doing discounts on crates. Just be sure to feel a bit guilty about it because the use of alcohol as a loss leader by big chains is contributing to the demise of the local pub. So to even it out go to the pub on Boxing Day and drink lots.
  22. You see my parents are both very religious and involved with the church but they never, even when we were kids tried to force us to go to church. They never tried to force the church?s beliefs on us either. In fact their own views are considerably more liberal than the crap the church peddles. They certainly wouldn?t agree that ?homosexual behaviour? is something the world needs saving from. They are both also a lot more knowledgeable and well informed about religion in general and the teachings and political functioning of the church than most other Catholics I meet. Oddly they still seem to see some kind of value (be it spiritual, moral or social) in being part of the church. So I guess not all Catholics believe all this crap and it is still possible to consider yourself catholic or even be an active practicing Catholic and disagree with what the church says on certain issues. I?m still not getting up to go to mass tomorrow though.
  23. Anyway I?m using this all as an excuse to boycott mass tomorrow.
  24. Fuck me! You just remnided me I haven't go any beer in for tomorrow! ::o
  25. Are you in your late 20s early 30s? It is about the age you start to notice the gap between you and the ?next generation? of adults. They are probably all about 19 or 20.
