  1. And in winter time there isn?t enough cleavage on display! :'(
  2. There is a small little pub in Belgravia that I regularly go to after work. They also don?t have a kitchen and similarly to Keefs mate they make a platter of sandwiches every night and put it out at around 7pm when everyone is hungry. They have been doing it for years and I haven?t heard of them ever getting any trouble for it. They are just like bar snacks.
  3. If all else fails, get your knob out.
  4. Did the conversation go something like this: ?Do you have any Chekov?? ?Yeah its here innit.? ?Anton Chekov?? ??ere there aint no ants on my checkout.? ?The writer?? *Some tapping at a keyboard* ?Look ?ere there aint nufink on the system luv. orwright? ?Sheesh. Tracey! You ?ear that last nutter? Wots this place Office Angles sent us to today anyway??
  5. The war?
  6. Unfortunately I think you are right Bob. It just depends on what kind of ideas whoever ends up buying it has. If this thread is to be believed the brewery are not planning on financing any maintenance. So if it eventually does sell it will all be up to the new lease holder.
  7. Yeah the speeches are something that people just really want to ?get through? rather than something they are at all interested in. So keep it short.
  8. I have been going to the CPT regularly for almost 4 years and I drink Guinness. I must say I have never had a bad pint in there. The guys I was with on Saturday though were drinking Grolsch and it was really not very good at all.
  9. I didn?t say they were the best solution but human civilization is heavily reliant on them as we stand at the moment, whether you like it or not. Living in a city like London it is easy to be self-righteous and go on about how unnecessary they seem. In other parts of the world they are integral to keeping local economies running or even just basic survival.
  10. You can?t seriously think you can compare the 2. Cars are integral to transport strategy and therefore the economy, industry and commerce. They may not be the best solution but they serve a purpose. Tobacco is not necessary to anyone. If it had never been discovered our day to day lifestyle would not be any different today. In fact if its production was totally stopped life would carry on much the same as it did before. Except that a whole bunch of African farmers would start growing the food their countries need instead of tobacco. Get rid of cars and entire countries? economies will crumble.
  11. Anyone else notice that the Grolsch was bad on Saturday?
  12. I think a lot of quitting smoking is people bigging it up. Yes it has a physical addiction but if you realise what this is and why it is happening (it is hardly rocket science and something most of us, hopefully, already knew about when we started) you can quite easily get through the week or so of withdrawal and feeling irritated. These ominous ads for quitting on the telly should be banned. They make it out to be this huge thing that you need help and drugs to get through. Yeah if you don?t want to feel withdrawal use a nicotine supplement. But this scare mongering by the drug companies about the horrors of nicotine withdrawal is unnecessary. Lots of people quit smoking every day it is nothing to be afraid of. I personally don?t like people, especially the government, telling what I can and cannot do so in principle I have always opposed the smoking ban. I do however quite like the way pubs and restaurants are now smoke free.
  13. The "no smoking ban" ? :-S
  14. The forum drinks are for anyone and everyone muffins. They are very sociable, friendly events so come along and bring whomsoever you please along with you. They are really good fun.
  15. SteveT Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 'It is our responsibilities, not ourselves, that > we should take seriously.' Peter Ustinov That's brilliant.
  16. This is a Cardigan:
  17. I think the daily limit is dependant on your bank. I normally draw out about R2000 out at a go so as to avoid too many transaction charges. It lasts up to 2 weeks of drinking and eating out every night. Depends where you are though. In the more touristy places they bump the prices up a bit. A tank of petrol costs about R200 at the moment I think. When you are travelling you also have to factor in money for toll roads.
  18. Whilst pulling your cardigan around you for warmth and tut-tutting about the weather.
  19. It's 8:28pm on a friday night and you aren't in the pub.
  20. Just draw out money from the cash points over there. No need to bother with travellers cheques. Just check with your bank here to make sure they don?t charge you a stupid amount per transaction. In my experience it is normally about ?1.50. Your money goes a lot further. For instance ?100 will get you R1400 but R1400 will go a lot further than ?100 does in London. Unless you are buying clothes or electronics that is but for restaurants and bars etc you money goes quite far.
  21. ?1 buys you R14.50 at the moment. Pretty handy if you are going on holiday (or organising a wedding and honeymoon) over there. Not so good if you live there and are part of an economy that is fast crumbling due to general mismanagement, theft and downright arrogant stupidity.
  22. You feel that it is fundamentally wrong for anyone to have been born more recently than the 1970s.
