  1. Figure that lot out.
  2. Coming from the other hand of course. If you know what I mean and I think that you do.
  3. Why yes, there is a fine tradition of India producing good bowlers. And they are among the few who can master wrist spin which turns the other way.
  4. Is there an apple tree on this island? If there?s an apple tree you can make scrumpy. You?ll be taxed on it mind.
  5. A treadmill?
  6. Are you referring to the ones in government?
  7. Flouncing and holidays aside. What are we actually discussing here? Is equality a moral point of belief, i.e. that all people are equal and therefore deserve equal opportunity and representation? Are we assuming that it goes unsaid and the only discussion is how we achieve this or is that assumption perhaps wrong? It is I think (and here?s where I have to lose my objectivity) a moral point for me. I cannot (except maybe on a hypothetical basis) entertain and argument on the principle but only on how it is best achieved. It would be like someone trying to convince me that robbery can be justified or that rape is excusable. Both of these are arguments that I have heard from people before but I wouldn?t even open them up for discussion.
  8. It seems another of our esteemed organs is now in the hands of a Russian spy turned gagillionaire. Is this fellow really the champion of the free press or just vodka flavoured News Corp? Has the evening standard benefited from his intervention? Will the Dailymash sue me for stealing their headline? How much liberal indignation will it take to kill Rod Liddell? Was this thread just an excuse for a cheap knob gag? Will BA be getting on that plane fool? Is that last question too contrived?

  10. Well this is all very nice isn't it...
  11. Not everyone spends 90% of their time behind a computer and therefore has the intuitive sense of them that say, someone who works in IT does.
  12. You can't type "shite" without it being censored you know. This isn't China.
  13. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Of course it was based more > on mobility than equality which seems to annoy > those who would advocate equality. How do you separate the two though? To my mind it is easier to get from point A to point B if point B is 10 miles away from point A over a couple of hills and across a river than if point B is on the other side of an ocean and all you?ve got is a paper boat.
  14. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > China > USSR > Cambodia India Brazil South Africa Hugely unequal societies. Equally if not more murderous and sapping of human dignity and spirit only it?s a less formalized day-to-day drudgery of indignity and murder therefore less quantifiable and it doesn?t make simple to understand sensationalist news stories for people in Britain to digest.

  16. Looked it up on t?interweb and it is fermented corn syrup apparently. Flavoured with Scotland.
  17. What's it made of then?
  18. Although I think they do have this, ?Clear and coherent plan? published on their website somewhere but I can?t find it.
  19. No fuking idea mate. At the moment Vince from wotchamacallit has this to say, "The Liberal Democrats have made it clear that the point at which we cut spending will be based on economics and not political dogma. "While Labour buries its head in the sand and the Tories mire themselves in confusion, only the Liberal Democrats have produced a credible and coherent plan for dealing with the deficit." Which sounds suspiciously similar in style if not content to the bullshit from the conservatives. I?m not sure how politicians expect people to trust them if they aren?t willing to be honest about what their plans are.
  20. On the political side of this. The conservatives have said that they will publish an emergency budget within 50 days of being elected. What do you think the chances are of the public seeing this emergency budget before the election so that we can make up our own minds on which we would rather have? Not that I?m even considering voting for either of them but it may well be a very rare opportunity for an electorate to have the political parties throw their cards on the table and spare us having to sift through the bullshit in order to get a blurry glimpse of what either of them are planning.
  21. Makes perfect sense. What could possibly go wrong?
  22. Or actively try to create wealth through other means and buy ourselves out of it.
  23. It?s not that there aren?t people in politics and government (from all the various ideological backgrounds) who do empathise, see themselves as part of a whole greater than themselves, have a genuine will to make a different etc. You come across them quite often but these kind of people never make it past junior levels in either of the 2 major parties. But that's going off topic a bit.
