  1. Seconded, thirded whatever - has also some skills in computer wiring
  2. Quoting the rules here ................. Businesses must be based in East Dulwich and they must state their (trading) address. Failure to do this results in a deleted post. Multiple failures and/or lying results in a ban and possible public humiliation. - Do not repetitively post about you services offered, this includes continuously offering your services to people with "I've PM'd you mate", "thanks for the recommendation" and "I can do that for you" messages.* - Businesses can post about themselves once for free. I recommend reading the terms of use before posting. - False recommendations are illegal and action will be taken against those who try it on. - Suspicious / multiple recommendations about a tradesmen will be removed. - Do not type the subject title in capital letters. - Advertising / business signatures are not allowed.
  3. Where best to get a Samsung 'phone screen replaced given I do not want to try this myself?
  4. Thanks re Southwark socialservices but the elder is not presently a Southwark resident I'll try Age Concern
  5. We are wondering about how we could change our house to accommodate an elder who is ambulant but would neeg ground floor self contained accomodation. Can anyone recommend anyone who can help us think this through and price up an option ?
  6. Greyhound used here http://www.greyhoundcars.co.uk/ - always good, on time etc and provided a free journey once when 1/2 hr late Just take care with time estimates - especially in the rush hour - your estimate may be better than theirs!
  7. Grrrr - why did I get this and not notice of temporary diversion https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/routes-136-and-343
  8. Coming late to this but also was caught by this - went down to get a 343 last Wednesday - only an occasional user - no other notice despite being notified of changes at Burbage Road had no notice of this other than on the bus stop - nothing on TFL web site at the time - TFL etc could do better
  9. Salsaboy - we are defo on single phase in our street - I can see the earth spike on the supply just now as the hole is not filled in Any answers to my original questions please as in ? 1) When did electricity come to SE22 / SE15 ? 2) How old is mains cable (mains fuse to street) likely to be if wrapped in cloth? 3) are such cables still in iron pipes that are "made off" at "T's" under the road outside our house? 4) Where are the local sub stations?
  10. Re flickering it may be worth putting a meter on something - e.g. one of your 13amp sockets - to check if you have voltage or power drops. If so there could be any number of issues ranging from a partial break in a local cable (originals from meter to substation ran in pottery pipes that can break as drains do), poor earthing, problems at the sub station and so on
  11. Now found out our own supply is simgle phase - so that's one of five!
  12. I'm curious about our electricity supply having had issues over Christmas .... 5) Assume each mains supply locally is on one of three phases? Anything else I should know? :-)
  13. Hi all - as you were - UK Power Net says my neighbours problem is re cable not phase lost - generator provided
  14. If its any help our neighbour is also off - but we are on - suggests one of the three (?) phases is out and apparently (from neighbour) men are looking into it :-(
  15. Sorry to hear of your loss and curious to know what is a "skimmer"? Wondering if we should fix our dear old 4 wheel drive beastie to prevent summat like this
  16. We are considering a loft conversion and would like recommendations from satisfiedcustomer - not tradesfolk -as to whom migh be good for this. Thanks
  17. For cyclists, you could always use the alternative cycle route along Sumner Road, especially if you are one of those cyclists that travel at more than 12 mph - there is some danger we cyclists might loose this shared route
  18. Thanks Vic - ?5 per pop?
  19. Have someone staying who want their car washed rather than doing it themselves - yeah I know! Any recommedations? How about the place on Copeland Road?
  20. Zombiemonkey Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > snip ............ We seem to have a mutual > understanding, cyclists pile on the left, > motorbikes and scooters on the right, we drive off > out of everyone?s way and we keep ourselves safe. Cyclists pile on the left, motorbikes and scooters on the right and then tye latter pull over to the left knocking off cyelists.
  21. Errr - no idea - one of the usual local IP addresses - e.g. 192.168.x.x
  22. And sorry - log on to router with local address and password (you DID set one? ) change the security level, put in loooong password and reboot if needed. Then apologise to daughters and boyfriends who now cannot surf via Wifi, set up guest access and go back to listening to the Archers :-)
  23. Depends on your router Here on our Vigor 2920 we use WPA2 / PSK Type 8~63 ASCII character or 64 Hexadecimal digits leading by "0x", for example "cfgs01a2..." or "0x655abcd....".
  24. We need a fairly substantial repair to one concrete cil and minor repairs to others - does anyone have any recommends for trades people who could do this type of work?
