  1. Yes there is such a thing as vegan dining in SE22, although it is completely dining within the confines of ones own abode. SE22 is good for vegan ingreds though - I'd recommend SMBS. I suspect this is not the answer you'd have liked.
  2. or sit outside with your Guinness and brolly.
  3. Glad you said that MW74 - I was going to suggest that they have loads of stuff on there they could have customised for your mezze.
  4. Southwark do not accept brown paper bags for recycling (see link) - although if you have a compost bin you could put them into that. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/YourServices/environment/RecyclingPages/WhatCanBeRecycled.html As for Sainsburys recycling plastic bags, I think that is a bit of a red herring, as they are transported overseas for reprocessing - why not just re-use them? If you are doing a bit of shopping on the way home from work why not get into the habit of carrying a folded up plastic bag in your pocket?
  5. Did she hastily try and rearrange the pasta shelves into pictures and regroup the spuds in an alcove ? (like she normally does with pebbles in empty fireplaces). Oh well as long as she wasn't waving the scissors in the air as in her late unlamented Currys/Dixons ads.
  6. The weather is absolutely perfect as well. I always thought it wasnt quite right on previous years with the sunshine. So much more appropriate (like St Patricks Day) where you have the wind and rain lashing the face off you. We will probably lose the east of East Dulwich in the howling gale.
  7. I love the Irish festival - it really reminds me of that episode of Fr Ted where they have the Funland carnival - remember the spiderbaby that is actually a baby but has the head and body of a spider? Anyway, me personal highlights of previous years include: - Each county having its own personal tent. (Very demonstrative of Irish tribalism). - Tombolas with prizes like tins of peas. - The wee dancers with orange tans and amazing corkscrew beehive hairdos. - The refreshment stalls with bread and jam. - The big farmer looking blokes who win the tug of war. Lovely. You're right all that is missing is the lovely gerls competition. Dulwich Mum could probably enter her nanny. She sounds like the acme of lovely girlyness.
  8. The wee quinnie household is half Irish half Australian. All of the cliches hold true in this instance.
  9. The All Fired Up Cafe always looks like a totally scarey place to me - I've not been in it - I just imagine being ramped up on caffeine with the sounds of squealing and plates being smashed all around. Am I being to bah humbugish?
  10. The Indian lady who works in there is a real sweetie. That reminds me - the woman who works in the Dulwich supermarket (opposite East Dulwich Deli) is also super nice - good to see she's been recognised on this thread.
  11. I would so love it if a veggie restaurant opened down LL. Or a place like Provender (Forest Hill). I am not saying that LLs eateries do not cater for veggies, but there is a definite lack of anything original. The usual offering is either risotto (yawn) or extremely bread flavoured veggie bangers and mash. I know they are not all like this (Green and Blues menu looks quite good) - but overall the existing options aren't that exciting.
  12. Compared to Lembit Opik they are the epitome of gorgeousness.
  13. Dare I ask... Why exactly do we need these bags? Surely we all have bags at home languishing in our cupboards/wardrobes, without the need for PRODUCING more.
