  1. We don't know the terms of the contract, it could well be that the outsourcing company has broken the contract by their actions. The contract will be for a set time and JAGS could easily bring pressure to bear by making it known that the contract will not be renewed unless certain conditions are met now. As the Guardian article demonstrates, outsourcing companies behave unilaterally without reference to the client though claiming they are following the client's instructions. The article also shows that action by the client is able to reverse decisions by the outsourcing company not in keeping with the client's standards.
  2. Exactly. Any outsourcing company acts on the instructions and requirements of their clients, which may include cutting costs, so JAGS are not blameless. It is within their power to resolve the current dispute but chose to hide behind the outsourcing company instead.
  3. Less frequent collections would not reduce the volume of garden waste collected
  4. I think I'd prefer a dentist to carry out the procedure than many others who offer the service. Hypothetical really, it's not something I'd ever consider
  5. Just been to M&S LL and able to use card but there seemed to be a problem with scales. Had previously been to one by station and it was cash only
  6. Thought this was going to be a post about astrological charts. Very disappointed.
  7. Well, as we're being pedantic Olver?
  8. Thanks for that. I was probably walking around in a world of my own ...
  9. Never used to see foxes in East Dulwich when I first moved here 40 years ago. Nor did I see them when I grew up in West London.
  10. Perhaps they're going to do an archaeological dig to look for Boudicca's remains
  11. They are calling for donors with O type blood to come forward and donate: "For surgeries and procedures requiring blood to take place, hospitals need to use O type blood as this is safe to use for all patients. "That means more units of these types of blood than usual will be required over the coming weeks to support the wider efforts of frontline staff to keep services running safely for local patients." Looks like I'm going to be losing very nearly an armful ... 12. So much excitement at one time it was going to be an M&S, now look at us. Maybe a Waitrose?
  13. For those interested, here is a link to the chapter in Douglas Allport's book about the supposed Roman camp on Ladlands HIll. He quotes another historian William Bray who had put forward the theory but Allport himself, after conducting research of the site, believed the geological formations were due to the natural land slip common with heavy clay soil. It's a nice read, conjuring up the area from nearly 200 years ago. BTW @edhistory (RIP) posted on this forum in 2017 that the belief there was a Roman fort on Dawson's Hill was fake news. https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/Collections_Illustrative_of_the_Geology/jfMVAAAAYAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=douglas+allport&printsec=frontcover p29ff As for Boudicca being killed on Peckham Rye https://londonist.com/2016/08/is-boudica-buried-in-london
  14. They'll definitely keep slugs and snails down
  15. Helen Hayes has confirmed she'll be standing
  16. Sadly this means for those of us who live within this ward the brilliant Helen Hayes will no longer represent us (that is if she's standing again). The Labour candidate for Lewisham West and East Dulwich is Ellie Reeves who has been MP for West Lewisham and Penge before the redrawing of boundaries. She is sister to Rachel Reeves.
  17. I'm curious, if commercial enterprises are restricted to how many times they can use the council recycling facility how then do they dispose of the waste?
  18. Is this the tree the fun runners use to hang their coats and bags on?
  19. There are many, myself included, who have already voted by post
  20. You have to spend time in the area, only you know what feels right for you. You will then probably have more specific questions to ask which will be easier to answer.
  21. Get rid of and donate https://www.getridofit-donate.com/
  22. In a time when there have been devastating cut backs to council funding, I don't see a problem with the council's efforts to raise money for the greater good.
  23. As a middle class elderly* frequent user of Park and Common I agree with @Cyclemonkey especally about the area of the park in question being less used. (*I do like a good winge too but not about this)
  24. Yet there seems to be good communication with other GP practices. A couple of times I've phoned my GP FHRGP and been given same day appointments with EPCS. Also, if TJGP claim shortage of staff, is it because the conditions offered make it unattractive for GPs to work there?
