I have heard that Anatolia, the former Turkish restaurant on Forest Hill Road, is to become an off shoot of the Sea Cow fish & chip shop brand. Can anyone confirm?

If so - with Si Mangia, Omrith and perhaps a Sea Cow all within 200 yards does this make Forest Hill Road a mini foodie destination?

I'm watching with interest. They've spent ages not doing much to Anatolia, which has been shut for more than 2 years now. They've dumped a load of stuff in the front yard and I see there's a council notice about the works pinned to a lamp-post. Old off licence indeed, although to that you can also add the old stationers and the old Chinese takeaway.

Think mini-foodie might be stretching it though! Was disappointed with Cafe 2050 the other day, which is a shame as I normally love it.

I've never actually eaten in The Sea Cow and while I have always thought it looked good, although am a bit put off by the bench seating which is stylish but doesn't look very comfy. Is the food good?

Living close to Anatolia am very interested in what happens to it. It would be great if something also happened to the corner off licence too. That could be a fab, independent, early opening coffee shop (we like 2050 but the 9.30 opening time is no use if you want a coffee on the way to work). Or perhaps a green and blue style wine bar in keeping with the original theme??? Wishful thinking :)

It'll be interesting to see how the Sea Master evolves and if it is an off shoot of teh Se Cow which is expensive in comparison to other chippies. Will certainly create competition for the Dolphin Fish Bar up the road and could actually finish it off), they say fish and chops are thriving in this recession and also great for Forest Hill Road.

Don't need another chippie. Come back Anatolia, we loved you.

And sea cow takeaway is rubbish, they've made the schoolboy error of using trendy boxes which steams everything soft. Eating in the grub is good but interior is a bit grim; there's a thin layer of grease over everything .

I'd much rather have another decent local restaurant, esp. as I love the chips from Dolphin.

Si M is nowt special, does its job OK. Although I do like the tiramisu.

Omrith plunged downhill between first and second visits - first was fine, second was like an experimental cookery course entitled 'put many kilos of cornflour in absolutely everything' had been going on. Never again.

"Used to be" Northlonder but hasn't been for a very long time and has been shut for more than two years. Many of the shops on that parade have been closed for far too long and that makes the place look shabby. Time to move on and hopefully some of the other premises will follow suit.

The co-op has no rear access, so the only place to store anything is out ront. I agree it's a dump. The Co-op used to be worse before its revamp about 2 years ago but it's still fairly shoddy.

Nero there is another thread about someone looking to take over the blue and yellow place - fingers crossed something goes ahead as it looks like something from Shameless at the moment

    • I cannot remember who ran/organised the original ED LETS. They had meetings at the ED Community Centre every so often. I think there were about 20 - 25 people involved.
    • That looks consistent with what I saw when I checked a few weeks ago, after someone raised a fresh thread asking about the progress.  I was about to post here asking if anyone could help with what seemed a bit of  a  mystery.  The planning register didn't show the application as decided.  I couldn't find any minutes of the committee meeting that James reported on last year, or any mention in any other minutes of the application.  The meeting was itself  flagged in the meetings schedule as MOVED (presumably to another date).   Incidentally, I remember one of the atttached planning documents being a report on the financial prospects then pertaining.  As far as I understood and remember it seemed to show the construction for sale of the buildings a ? poor prospect for the investment.  I'm no expert though.
    • Hi sue  so this year I think I fed them a tomato food but only probably three to four times in the summer  don't over water them  I put mine outdoors in about march depending on the weather as long as there's not going to be any frost and bring them back indoors September october-ish or when I think the frost is coming
    • What do you feed it with? Just a general all purpose feed? Clearly I am doing something wrong with mine! They flower every year, but they don't have anything like that amount of flowers!
