Squash or badminton

Does anyone know where I might be able to play either game on an irregular basis (ie no major membership fees)?

Balham is the nearest i've found (but 2 courts are currently shut for refurb).

Dulwich Squash Club does seem to be run by a snotty wunch of bankers.

Hi, we play Squash weekly in Crystal Palace which isn't too far away. They have 5 or 6 courts there. Cheap if you are a member but you can pay ?8 for an hour in a court if you are not a member. You can also hire gear there if you need to.

If anyone needs someone to play squash with I'll give them a game. My level is ummm, ok although I haven't played for a few years so it's probably best if there's someone of similar standard who wants to get back into playing it. Thurday evening is the best night for me and I can get to Crystal Palace easily (although I've never been to the sports centre before). Let me know...

Also I know JAGS have squash courts but I think you have to be a member to use them

Harris Sports Centre that is off East Dulwich Road has excellent badminton courts, the centre is fairly new and the prices are fairly ok

Thanks everyone for these tips. Mark - it would be great to play a bit of squash, but my level is merely that of a beginner who doesn't have bad hand-eye coordination, but never really played much or learned any technique, and hasn't played since uni (10 years ago!) And I've never played badminton properly at all. Just thought it might be fun!

Dulwich Hamlets FC has squash courts available for public use at a pretty good price. AND it's right next to Sainsbury's so you can pick up dinner afterwards!

I'm so glad someone mentioned Dulwich Hamlet! It's not the biggest or best place in the world, but it's definitely worth a look if you haven't tried. The gym is smallish, but well equipped, and friendly! It's not full of weight lifting freaks who just want to intimidate the slightly less fit amongst us...

Squash courts are good too.
