Brendan
It is an illustration that the British idea of ?class? doesn't really apply anymore. Brendan
And from the news desk for the bleeding obvious:http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7201874.stmWhen I read this I though it was a Daily Mash headline. mockney piers
"The world has been brought to the brink of depression by a ridiculous consumer spending spree fuelled by cheap credit and home makeover shows. So let's keep it going."Once again a quote from the Daily Mash is news masquerading as satire. lozzyloz
LOL.I laughed early yesterday morning when the "expert" financial pundits said, "Oh no, the Fed won't bring in rate cuts early. That would signal a panic."Isn't it also amusing how the so called highly paid, hugely bonused, financial experts in the worlds big banks have all screwed up big time to the tune of billions being written of as bad debt and billions being wiped of the stock markets. I reckon the average housewife would do a better job. atila the gooner
I read a story in one of the freebies given out at the train station this morning regarding the young woman murdered in Croydon and the trial of her alleged killer. He is claiming that he had sex with her dead body but didn't kill her. I don't know which is the more heinous crime, and why he would think that one is less despicable than the other. It makes your skin crawl. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1054-i-heard-the-news-today-oh-boy/page/12/#findComment-77642 Share on other sites
Keef
Yeah I heard that on the radio last night, pretty twisted stuff, and if you are using that as your "defence", then chances are you don't have much of an alibi... Guilty as sin me thinks. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1054-i-heard-the-news-today-oh-boy/page/12/#findComment-77652 Share on other sites
atila the gooner
That's the thing he seems to think that it will be helpful in his defence, makes you wonder what the inmates will make of this guy if he gones for a stay in one of HM's hostels. Keef
Well maybe it's a masterstroke. His lawyer gets them to believe this story, and he does up in a secure psychiatric hospital instead of a prison where he'd probably receive regular kickings. mockney piers
With so much 'informed' opinion in the press coming from briefings in hotels or armchair pundits *ahem, wouldn't know about that* it's good to see good journalism can still get into the mainstream. It's long at 11 pages but worth the efforthttp://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/24/magazine/24afghanistan-t.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1054-i-heard-the-news-today-oh-boy/page/12/#findComment-82568 Share on other sites
