Just had a clear out.

Apart from realising what a very odd collection of food I have (kombu seaweed? Relatively young with a sell by date of May 2005), the oldest thing was one of those squeezy containers of Heinz Tomato Ketchup - sell by December 2004 :-$

I don't even like tomato ketchup :))

Poured it down the sink and it looked like I was trying to dispose of the evidence of a murder.

At our marriage back in 1990 our Best Man gave us a bottle of Champagne with with the instructions that 'when things get that bad betwen you, open it and remember this day'.

Fnck me there have been times ,but it is still there in the food store.

Spices surely don't keep that long?

I chucked out loads last night because they had lost their smell.

If you try and make something with old spices it tastes disgusting.

Maybe cloves are different though.

My friend, with whom I stayed on Zanzibar, still had some cloves that his mother had had before she met his father. I don't cook with them to be honest but sometimes I will agitate them and then take the lid off and inhale the scent. It's one of my favourite smells; cloves, gardenia and lavender.

    • Definitely a couple of swifts flying high above Fellbrigg Road occasionally this morning.
    • I just remember sticky labels rather than badges, but I didn't go to all of the drinks.  Floppy disk labels?! How old are they?! Are they still sticky?!   I think they were just sticky labels which people wrote their own names on? Or at least whatever name they were willing to divulge (though it's a bit odd if they didn't want to say what their forum names were, as I thought the whole point was to meet forum members in the flesh and put faces to forum names!) I know what you mean re cringe, but I don't remember faces/names, which obviously can appear very rude (I have recently discovered it's an actual thing which other people have too) so for people like me labels save embarrassment.
    • I don’t think i ever wore a badge / not because I didn’t want people to know who I was (I think most people knew) but I hate badges and wearing them  find badges a bit cringe tbh  just ask someone there name - you’re already out socialising and drinking      There wasn’t a lot to it.  Pick a pub that’s likely to have space on the evening - ask the pub can we reserve the tables. Post date and time in here  it did grow to some quite big evenings.  But those early meet-ups were only 5 or 6 people. It grew from there  if it’s a date I can be in London I might try and get along
    • He’s always playing a gig somewhere here and I thought I had read he lived here - I could be wrong on latter point tho
