Given the issues involved, I am reposting the link to this petition as it has got lost amongst the trivia. Well done to those who have signed so far. So, if you are interested in helping to reduce cyclist deaths caused by HGVs, then (if you haven't already done so) please sign the London Cycling Campaign's petition: here.

It really does only take a few secs.

Merci.

THANK YOU for that B_S...and no, I hadn't seen it. It didn't shock me though as I am aware of the problem, though I suspect there are many cyclists out there who have no idea of just how large that blind spot is...

Basically, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER undertake a lorry. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, cycle along the inside because, for example, you intend turning left. In the absence of suitable positioning - just remain behind it - it's no shame. It's just not worth it..

I think your link is a good one to repeat every so often - it's amazing how, even amongst cylists aware of the dangers, how tempting it is for them to put them at the back of their minds when, for example, running late.

Gives me the shivers.

The Lying Toad.... of course.

Hey, without going through all the threads, has the subject of bike tyres and wet drain covers been discussed?

How many children, adults and seniors have fallen... slipped because of these?! It's not rocket science, simply have a cover with a back-fill of tarmac etc.. As well as cycling, I use my motorbike every day and see so many bikes slipping as they take a bend and then ...... bosch!

Oh of course! How dense am I? LOL!!! I was being facetious. I actually thought it stood for "till later then". Muhahahahahahahaha! That'll teach me...

Erm...bike tyres and drain covers? No I don't recall them being discussed...but be my guest...in fact, I insist!

Lady Mock.

** Next cycle ride **

Statues, Monuments & Sites along the Thames.

This will be the easiest one, up to Tower Bri, head along the Thames (North Side) to Battersea Bri, then a coffee at the Windmill on Clapham Common.

It was going to be the old London Prisons, but it had the same interest as the Bank of England - 2% ?!

Best,

McCabe

The Toad speaks:

Do you know any casual cyclist's who live in or around Islington? There will be another group set-up there for early 2011, Islington Council are impressed with E'dulwich Cycle Group and looking to arrange a meeting to have the same operation.

    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
    • I haven't used them myself but I noticed recently that "Snoots" in Forest Hill is going unlimited primary care for £33/month, so basically a subscription. Easy access on the 176 from East Dulwich. I have no idea what it includes so read the contract! It's a chain but only 5 branches so not a mega corporate. 🤷‍♂️ https://www.snootsvet.com/find-us
