Where was Bellenden Village? 1877

Attached is part of an 1877 map showing the northern boundary of East Dulwich Parish.

The underlying map itself looks to be c1865.

Bellenden Village has an authentic historic claim to be part of East Dulwich.

It is such a shame that, probably a mere 50 years later, what appears to have been a beautiful countryside area became over run with swathes of urban squalor.

Peckham is not squalor

The whole of London is squalor, not just Peckham! A filthy, rancid cess pit of a place.

Hasn't changed that much. I believe Cut Through Lane was known locally as Cut Throat Lane due to the muggings that took place there in those days.

I am trying to work out where this would be - is it Chadwick Road?

What's left of Cut Through/Cut Throat Lane is now Copleston Passage, not quite as far as Chadwick Road.
