George was involved in an accident of some sort between last night and this morning and sadly didn't make it.

A big thank you to the manager at the Brickhouse Cafe for getting him to a vet who contacted us today with the news.

We got George when he was around two years old from the Celia Hammond rescue home.

He was a stray, and ever since we've had him he's been prone to wandering long distances and getting lost.

His first two years with us saw regular posts to the East Dulwich Forums; us looking for him, people reporting him found.

With all his wandering, and living so close to Lordship Lane, it was inevitable something would happen one day.

Keeping him indoors permanently was never an option, he'd quickly go stir-crazy and dart out through any available exit.

A big thank you to...

- All of you on here that have helped find him over the last few years - we've appreciated the help!

- The staff and customers of the EDT and Actress who put up with his regular visits for strokes and scraps.

- All the local Dulwich residents with their open door / window policy and cat snacks.

- The friendly commuters who greeted him each morning on their way to work as they passed our house.

- And of course to George himself, who brought a smile to so many people's faces every day.

We'll miss you George, you handsome devil you, keep smiling.

Love Bella, Clara, Kati and Rob.

So very sorry to hear this, used to see him around and about, dashed handsome devil he was.

One of our pet rabbits died recently and I thought people would be a bit cynical about us being upset, then my father said to us "What the hell is the point in having a pet if you don't become emotionally engaged with it?"

Bless you for giving him such a grand life.

Take care,

Rendel x

So sorry to hear this - we really loved George and we always looked forward to his visits. He'd pop in through open doors and windows and stay for an hour or two for some cuddles and to chase an old bit of string before heading off on his travels again. He was an absolutely wonderful chap, such a lovely friendly personality and we often thought how lucky you were to have someone like him. Poor little thing. We will miss him.
George was a very special handsome chap and was even part of our cats gang despite the odd hiss. We will all miss him lots. I did pop round Rob/Katie to say how sorry I was and was only on the forum as Squiggly wasn't around this morning so getting worried! Maria,Helen, Charlie and Squiggly.

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
