No, no, no Ruffers! You've got it all wrong we just LAUGH at City.

Anna, Merde not demeaning but 'bin dippers' is? Seems like double standards to me...

Oh and before you all jump on Ronaldo for diving (not an uncommon occurence and I'm not defending it also see Torres, Drogba et al) I was following the games on the BBC text service and they were saying that noone from United appealed for a penalty, not even Ronaldo.

Sandperson, I remember being at a derby match at Anfield some years back, and there were 2 Everton fans in the kop sticking out like a sore thumb. Everton won 1-0, and they stood and cheered the goal, and I remember being really suprised how friendly the banter was. You wouldn't get that at a Glasgow derby! ;-)

The Merseyside derby is one that's often talked about. Some people say it's dead friendly and others will tell you it's the most hostile derby played.

The thing is, up there is half the family can be blue and the other half red, which is why I guess you'll see a red shirt amongst a sea of blue and not witness too many problems. That said - I wouldn't do it.

Not as much as we laugh at ourselves I suspect. While I was reassured by the loss at Brighton that we weren't going to become some kind of clinical professional organisation with our new found wealth I smiled less at the Wigan score.

For anyone who did see the game, or will see it on MOTD2, this quote from bbc text commentary re the penalty is brilliant

1646: "And people said building the JJB on an ancient trampoline burial ground wouldn't have any consequences."

Very happy with that result. 6 from 6 and Robbie off the mark.

WTF is that goal celebration all about? He reallys needs to bin that one off.

"Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane. His name's not f***** Keano!! Robbie Keane".

    • I can't access the article - what's the gist?  I took the markets getting jittery when she was crying at PMQs to be a sign that they trusted her. But maybe it was because they were simply worried about any form of instability.  The NIC hikes have stymied the economy, which we could all see a mile off. Will a wealth tax improve things? Does anyone here think the trickle down has any impact and that chasing out the super rich will help things? Or are we just seeing off the biggest contributors to the economy? And has the Kwasi approach ever worked anywhere else?  Economics is not my strong point at all, I'd love to know others' opinions, but it seems to be she has few options, especially as the party is so divided.
    • does either of them have a surgery? probably not over summer, but I thought they had to give the opportunity for their constituents to meet them.
    • MaryT, I’ve contacted the Dulwich Hill councillors several times in recent years, always copying them both in. I have never had an acknowledgment from Jon Hartley (not even an automated response or out-of-office) nor had any response or engagement from him regarding the issue raised.   On each occasion, only Maggie Browning responded (she uses an out-of-office if she is away). The last time, I received no response from either for 3 months, until Maggie Browning emailed me to apologise for not responding and asking if the problem had been resolved.
    • The  Kwasi effect is being considered.
