Funny you should say that as Rafa has just rejected his new contract!

Not surprised with that as Rafa clearly has some problems with Rick Parry whom he sees as being too influential on football matters. Rafa wants to make the decisions on transfers and the academy - he wants it in 100% black and white. This may surprise some people but Rick Parry has been known to turn up at Liverpool training sessions the night before European away matches wearing a Liverpool tracksuit emblazened with RP. He also plays in goal for the Liverpool legends, and his son is a coach in the youth academy.

Having once spoken with Rick Parry, and knowing the lack of progress Liverpool have made off the field under his charge during last 10 years I can imagine Rafa is like a kettle ready to explode when he perceives Rick Parry hindering his future work.

Bad Keef!!

I know, sorry, but hopefully I'll be wrong.

As for Liverpol v Everton at Anfield on Monday night, Liverpool have an abysmal record against Everton in these rare night time Anfield derbies, losing the last 3 times, stretching over 21 years.

I was at one of these, almost exaclt 10 years ago, Wednesday 14th Jan 1999.

Lost 0-1, and 3 players sent off (Jeffers & Westerweld in the same incident, and Gerrard very late on if memory serves). Bit naff, but good atmosphere!

What I should also have said is that those 3 defeats under the floodlights are Everton's only wins at Anfield in the last 21 years. The last being that 1999 fixture - which ended with a flat footed Steve Staunton in goal raising some cheers with a point blank reaction save from Campbell.

They're forecasting snow and windy game conditions for Monday night...

I can remember this one, but I can't remember getting beaten at Anfield in other night time matches.

I can remember one Monday night game in the 90s where Wright scored a header first, but later Bearsley scored the winner for them after the first shot got blocked, but I think that was at Woodison? In fact I am pretty sure it was.

Can't think of being beaten at Anfield in the evening at all? Can someone help me out??

The game where Crouch slid the opener and Cisse scored the third was in the evening..Goodison though.

The second replay after the 4-4 was a night game but Goodison again.

Just listening to Radio 5 and it all sounds a bit dodgy at Anfield. Apparently it was similar circumstances to these that led to Benitez leaving Valencia. They were also connecting the suprise (now Calderon has gone) Real Madrid presidential elections as maybe a tipping point for him finally taking his dream job there in the summer (presumably this will also be an excuse for Real to contiune the Ronaldo rumours). Interesting....

Something also interesting is that Ronaldo is learning Spanish... when asked at the World Player of the Year awards how his Spanish was so good after giving an interview in Spanish.

Speculation about Rafa is water off a ducks back to most Liverpool fans. We've got used to various stories about Rafa and Gerrard appearing prior to important parts of the season as a tool to destabilise the club. Sometimes it's self made sometimes it's from third parties. Prior to the Champions League semi final in 2005 between Chelsea and Liverpool, Alex Ferguson let is be known to the written press off the record, that Gerrard going to Chelsea was a done deal...... http://www.anfieldroad.com/news/archive/200505041209/gerrard-positive-about-liverpool-future.html/

I'm afraid stories about Ronaldo are water off a ducks back to most United fans. He has also trademarked CR9 in Spain. He will be gone in the summer, there's nothing new there. However, I think that losing your manager, which it looks possible that Liverpool might do, is more damaging to a team than losing one player. Sorry Matthew, I don't think there's any comparison.

Funny how when there's nothing else for the press to latch on to, the press always drag out something to do with the owners before a big game.

Heard it all before. If he goes, he goes. Nothing we can do about it. Would be gutted if he does but can't see it happening.

    • It has come to this author’s attention that the world of 4+ admissions — that most enigmatic of educational rites — continues to bewilder even the most composed of parents. Fear not. For in a former life, I was not merely a humble observer, but a seasoned educator of over twenty years, and Head of Pre-Prep for a distinguished dozen. Now, with quill exchanged for touchscreen, I have taken to that most modern of salons — Instagram — to dispense guidance, answer frequently whispered questions, and illuminate the shadowy corners of school selection with clarity and calm. Each post bears my signature twist: a blend of insight, levity, and the occasional raised eyebrow. Should you find yourself adrift in the sea of admissions, I suggest you peruse my latest dispatch. • Perhaps Gooseygreeny was not familiar with the wildlife before Gala was imposed on the park, since when its value to wildlife has deteriorated. The Park had never been disturbed before, as the council had respected it as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, so only the Common was licensed by them as a site for events. The first time Gala held their event, there was a tree with woodpeckers nesting in it right in the middle of the main field they used and thrushes, blackbirds and great tits nesting within the shrubs and trees immediately surrounding the field. The woodpeckers were thriving on ants from the anthills in the grass. To those of us who used to enjoy watching the wildlife, it was very obviously a Site of Importance for a variety of birds. Despite being accessed by the public and their dogs, it had been relatively undisturbed,  which was one of the main reasons why it was so special and why I have been opposed to the Gala festival being held during the bird nesting season.
    • So dangerous!    Can you be more specific about the road this was in and when you report it?  Maybe there’s some CCTV footage available
