emc
Myself and a friend want to go for 5-7 days to Spain, first week in August....don't mind where we fly to (will prob buy flights/hotel separately but Malaga seems cheapest?) so has anyone got any recommendations for any great hotels? (never been to Spain, don't know it at all) Not too pricey! Or recommendations of cheaper places to fly to in Spain - thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12103-recommendations-for-spanish-hols/ Share on other sites

Ladymuck
Agree with Quids...Costa de la Luz is lovely, though it can be a little blustery. At the other end of the country, Asturias in the North is stunningly beautiful and there are far, far fewer tourists (you may wish to learn a little Spanish - it will enhance your visit for sure).Have a lovely holiday. cate
I love Barcelona. You could go there and to Sitges which is just outside so would be a good contrast between beach and city. Barcelona does have some beaches though. and would make a nice beach holiday. Near Malaga is Nerja which is a quieter resort. Have been to Nerja twice and it was very relaxing, although I never visited in August. You could do a day or overnight trip to Granada to see the Alhambra. I did self catering both times in Nerja. benjaminty
Also with Quids - Tarifa and the surrounding area are amazing. Take a day trip to Morocco? Beaches are fantastic but when the wind gets up then you'll be pelted with sand... all still worth it. Narnia
Ah Sevilla. I got married there to a native. Nice city but way too hot in the summer. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12103-recommendations-for-spanish-hols/#findComment-338483 Share on other sites
Narnia
If you'd like an off the beaten track for foreigners holiday try El Portil. It where my in-laws and family go each August. Lovely beach and when I'm there I don't meet any foreigners at all. So it's a really Spanish in that respect. The blurb I briefly looked at suggested you would meet foreigners there. That's news to me apart from one Scottish lass in a beach bar. It's actually not too difficult to get to from Faro and the trip is really nice if you take the boat across the river between Portugal and Spain. The village Faro is nice too. Otherwise it's a matter of flying to Seville.PS I know nothing about the website. There may be others. It was the first one to come up in a search.El Portil Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/12103-recommendations-for-spanish-hols/#findComment-338637 Share on other sites
