Strada is more likely and a better option. But I have a special place in hell reserved for Prezzo. Rank

Bad enough that the former Indian opposite Half Moon in Herne Hill is going to be a Pizza Express (decimating the far superior pizza business in the Half Moon in one go)

But people will flock.

Doesn't look too bad from that link... can we really call it a crappy chain if they've only got one other branch in London that seems to have OK online reviews...

Wagas isn't what it used to be - they used to be relatively cheap and cheerful so you didn't mind stuff showing up at odd times etc. They really jacked their prices up a couple of years back (when they started to expand) but the service/food hasn't improved with it. I go to Busaba Eathai now when I want something fast but tasty.

Carluccios went downhill too after Antonio sold out. Used to love their penne giardinera - still love the parmesan/spinach balls - but their pasta tends to be overcooked and flabby these days. The tarfufi from the deli are still good though.

Hmmm.... or perhaps I'm just overly fussy :-$

Lots of reference to "our own pesto, home made ragu, hand cut chips" etc - so hopefully they cook a lot fresh in house.

Not entirely sure that this is the best advert for a restaurant... If it has to be home-made, then shouldn't we be eating in our own kitchens ;-)

But, I'm game to try it out - perhaps we should offer the EDF's services as a practice group for a soft launch.... or should that be a soft lunch

    • I would challenge that. Price is a function of supply and demand - that's what I learnt at school anyway. It doesn't matter what your costs are, if supply increases and demand remains constant, prices (rents) will fall. And vice versa
    • Strange isn’t it…..other European countries s actually come up with solutions to house homeless people, which are pod structure, use of office blocks, etc. homeless are provided with thermals, warm sleeping bag and tent or pop up tent plus tech friendly clothing which means they are warm in extreme conditions. Us in UK? Nothing but chuckinto house of multiple occupation, which is usually not warm and not all have mould, but some do.. live in one room even if you are a family with good only knows what other sort of people…  not referring to ethinicity here but more along the lines of mental health problems, drugs, alcoholics. Single and families all in one property. Or if you are one of the lucky ones, into a hotel you go…   Why don’t we as a nation claw back more money in the form of tax  or avoidance avoidance, off shore accounts or other ways that rich or investors do buck the system….
    • Hello! I’m considering buying the demise for the loft-space above my flat (facing the classic renovate or move scenario for an additional bedroom or 2). Has anyone had recent experience of buying the demise from Southwark? Interested to know how they’re handling the premium/valuation.  thanks!
