I would have thought so ? amazed it (and any other video shop) has stayed open so long. Not enough people in 2010 fancy travelling to a shop for a film and then have to take it back

Quite a decent size space for whatever replaces it mind

why shame on the LoveFilmers?

Legally Downloading/Streaming films is going to be the main supply of video content very very soon. There is no way videoshops can stay in business. You may as well complain about there not being enough telegraph companies these days

Oh no! I go there to use their computers! I do have a PC at home, but I have Windows XP on it and sometimes I need to use Word. The computers at the library are horrible - or at least they were last time I used them, before I discovered the far better computers at Prime Time. I agree that it's a shame it's closing, but I was just remarking to my husband at the weekend that it seems cheaper to buy DVDs than rent them these days.

They were friendly, but at the end of the day, shame on Blockbuster, Apollo et al who have been charging ?4 a night rental, with punitive fines if you're late returning your scratched and skipping DVD. They even latched onto the cybercafe idea 10 years too late.

LoveFilm and X-Torrent etc are doing so well because they've seen that the market's changed completely.

One thing I did like about that shop was they had comparatively huge selection of foreign films, with many a gem in there. But it seems obvious after multiple rebrands/owners in recent years that the oepration was being run down

The Alien/Predator thing was one of my first thoughts as well GG

I stopped renting movies form shops years ago. From Lovefilm you have a massive collection to choose from, it's cheap and no late fees...all delivered to your door. How can any store compete with that?...well they can't.

Would like to see a 'Poundland' in it's place ;-)

Waitrose would be nice.

Or we get a new 'Super-Pub' with the loudness and late licence of Adventure Bar...striking fear of god

into people.

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
    • Sorry Sue - me again. This has been on my mind all day, it's a big bug bear of mine. If you don't mind - please can you private message me some of these shops so I can cross reference / add to my AVOID list.  Thanks in advance. Let's make sure this doesn't happen this Christmas, particularly as we head into sales season. Even more problematic in my experience.
    • Pity you didn't quote what you are referring to, Mal. I didn't see the previous post, and my mind is boggling 😮
