Not really sure where to start here.

We are eloping to nYC for an Xmas wedding due to a melt down in family politics planning our wedding for next year. I absolutely can't afford a dress at all right now - money is at an all-time low.

I am a size 10-12 dress but with a very large bust (32F). I'm looking for a dress to wear on December 28th for a quick civil ceremony at City Hall. I would bring the dress with me onto the plane and hang it on board, rather than pack it. I would happily leave you a deposit too, should you want.

I just wondered on the off chance if any lovely ladies out there have a (practical) wedding dress in their cupboard that I could borrow for a quick winter wedding in NYC. I will of course dry clean it prior to return and I'd look after it with care and love.

Can anyone help this here runaway bride? ;-)

Thank you, thank you xx

I would love to loan you a wedding dress, but I got married in black... on my due date... and Litte Saff was born the next day. :-0

Good luck, I hope you find a dress. I see them come up for sale from time to time on local forums, fairly inexpensive. You could also try posting on some of the local FaceBook groups?

Eloping to NYC sounds fab! xx

Congrats marmite. Unfortunately we aren't the same size (especially in the bust!) otherwise I certainly would have. I believe there are services available that allow you to rent wedding dresses for a pretty reasonable fee.

Good luck with you winter nuptials!

Hi Saffron, dry cleaning a wedding dress is very expensive, I think potentially around the ?100 mark, so you might find it's cheaper to just buy one second hand for around the same price and then not bother dry cleaning after wearing it. Just in case you missed it, this post was in the For Sale section: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?9,1735768,1735768#msg-1735768

Hi Marmite-love

I have a lilac thin strap bridesmaid dress if that is any good, it's ankle length. You didnt state what colour you wanted. It has lilac roses around the bust and I think its a size 12-14. running away to get married sounds very exciting.

Asos! They have a ruched bandeau white dress which you can get in a 10/12 for ?13! It's floor length , all you'd need is a pair of shoes , hair accessory should you wish. You can even google a veil if you want one and you'll find a cheap one.

    • I had this same query the other week - Mediquip no longer cover Southwark and I believe the company when bankrupt? Anyway, after some digging, I found the news on the adult social care page of Southwark Council website.  The new supplier of medical equipment that is issued to Southwark residents via an OT from the council or the NHS is Provide Equipment Hub.  I emailed them about returning two items and they did promptly respond and came and picked up the items the following week.  Email them at [email protected] Importantly, they will come and do urgent repairs of equipment like hospital beds.  I'm surprised that Southwark haven't made this change more widely known as it will impact many vulnerable residents.

    • Hello East Dulwich families 👋 I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I’m a professional family & wedding photographer with 14+ years of experience, and I split my time between the US and London throughout the year. I’ll be based in London for the coming weeks and would love to photograph more local families here in East Dulwich. My approach is very relaxed and natural — no stiff posing, no pressure — just real connection, movement, and the beautiful everyday moments that tell your family’s story. I work especially well with kids and parents who feel “awkward” in front of the camera (which honestly is most of us!). Sessions can take place at home, in the park, on your favourite street, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. The goal is to create images that feel like your life — not a photoshoot. If anyone has been thinking about documenting this season with their children, I’d love to connect, answer questions, or simply share examples of my work. No pressure at all — just happy to be here and meet some neighbours. You can see my work here: https://bluesparkphotography.com/family/ (use the contact page on the site to send me a message if you're interested!).
