Terrible venue, but for the right fans it's some line up.....i've never been a huge fan of Flaming Lips, and ashamedly Dinosaur Jr passed me by- but i'm sure for fans of either or both this is a special gig. ATP do put on some amazing stuff.

Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips will return to these shores to play a special one off gig in London?s Alexandra Palace on Friday 1st July 2011.

The band will be playing their ninth album ?The Soft Bulletin? released in 1999. The special show will also feature Dinosaur Jr performing their 1988 album ?Bug, and Deerhoof Performing 2004?s ?Milk Man?.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday.

Here's a pre-sale for a nice set of gigs next month (mostly at the Forum in NORTH London, unfortunately). I can highly recommend Paolo Nutini - great voice.

Presale starts 9am tomorrow and I wouldn't hang about.

If anyone is interested in seeing Brandon Flowers (not my cup of tea) then his gig at the Forum is on sale on Friday morning. The presale has sold out.

Come on ED, let's switch off those TVs and get out more.

Pxxx

Has anyone heard of Rumer? She's a local girl (Herne Hill) and she's doing a benefit at the Half Moon for the British Red Cross to aid flood victims in Pakistan.

The gig is next Friday (10th September). Tickets are only ?12.50 and that includes food. What more can you ask for ?12.50?

If you're planning to go then please PM me so I can say hi.

This is sold out. Good for her.

Kings of Leon return to O2 (yes, dreadful I know) in December for their new album. Presale probably tomorrow morning at 9am.

  • 2 weeks later...

Elbow long long awaited tour next March on sale this Friday. Probably pre-sales tomorrow/Thursday.

Also, Rumer (local, Herne Hill) could be the next big thing and doing a date at Shepherds Bush Empire. Would post a Rumer You Tube link but can't access YT at work. Give her a go.

There's likely to be another Kings of Leon date at O2. I think they're holding back on the second date as they did a deal with the devil over ticket sales (sad but true).

Rumer is on Jools tonight (ie now bbc2)

She was excellent - voice reminded me of tracey thorn.

There are more Brandon Flowers tickets on sale for Brixton if anyone is interested. Has been sold out for weeks but a few just gone back on. Here:

Update to say that Elbow is on sale next week. If you sign up to their website you'll get a pre-sale. 28th March is the confirmed date at the O2 but I think there will be another date added. DO NOT BUY SEATS ON LEVEL 4 AT THE O2 - I'm always saying that but people still do!

Also, tickets for the BBC Electric Proms on sale tomorrow morning (Thurs 23rd). Neil Diamond playing the Roundhouse - definitely floats my boat and I don't care if I am uncool. J'adore Neil and I know all the words. Also Robert Plant and Elton John at the Roundhouse.

Ah yes so you did TT. She's fabulous.

She's got a Shepherds Bush gig in December. Buy here:

Also, she's accompanying Elton John at his Electric Proms gig at the Roundhouse next month. I can't stand Fat Reg so I won't be going but tickets for all the Electric Proms gigs are on sale tomorrow morning at 9am and will go really fast.

For Hibbs and anyone else who wants to go to the Electronic Proms but couldn't get tickets this morning, here is the buying screen. Everything is showing as sold out. Keep that page on your PC and hit refresh any chance you can. The gigs are NOT sold out and the buying screens will go live again - I promise - you just need to be on line when they go live.

Seetickets is the crappest selling agency on the planet - they are showing as sold out because otherwise their pathetic little website would crash, as it does when more than 7 people at a time log on to it.

    • Thankfully, it seems that yesterday's "Red vs Blue" school wars thing has turned out to be a hoax/ nonsense/ whatever. (See link below if you managed to avoid this stuff). In years to come, we might found out who - or which countries - has an interest in testing what happens when you post socially disruptive content online about fake events... In the meantime, thank you to our local teachers and other school workers, police community support officers and police officers. My commute happens to take me past a bunch of schools at dropoff/pickup times, and I noticed a much greater and more visible presence on streets outside/near schools than normal. Annoying as it must have been to be distracted from other important duties, I really value and appreciate them looking out for the kids. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/school-wars-trend-red-blue-london-police-latest-142328025.html https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jan/01/birmingham-new-year-fireworks-display-centenary-square-police

    • a) Because they published a leaflet in Urdu promising to give "Muslims a strong voice". This is reprehensible - just as a party that promised to give Protestants or Jews or Buddhists alone "a strong voice" would be acting in a sectarian manner. Parties - especially socialist ones like the English & Welsh Greens are now - should not be assymetrically promoting the interests of one religious group. b) Because they published a video in Urdu and Bangla criticising Kier Starmer for meeting Narendra Modi, when Modi has nothing to do with the issues discussed. Modi is a Hindu nationalist bigot - but in this context, the Greens are just shitstirring existing tensions between British Hindus and British Muslims for the purpose of trying to win Muslim votes - see the first point. FWIW I don't have any problem with parties communicating with the electorate in languages other than English (from Irish to Polish to Malayalam). What is very suspicious is when parties pump out sectarian messages only in one language... When Mamdani ran for Mayor of NYC (and won) he released plenty of campaign videos in multiple languages - but always with English subtitles too. There was never a suggestion he was sending different, sectarian messages to different groups.     https://uk.news.yahoo.com/why-greens-made-advert-urdu-164616073.html https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/uk/uk-green-party-accused-of-sectarianism-after-releasing-videos-in-urdu-and-bangla-featuring-pm-modi-and-gaza/articleshow/128826689.cms
    • @Sue the Green's campaign video showing Keir Starmer shaking hands with Modi and David Lammy shaking hands with Netanyahu is one such example.  As I say, I don't know the organisation, but I would expect election observers to only report after polls have closed. To do otherwise could be perceived as interfering in the election. They might need to check patterns across multiple polling stations. Any public criticism by an independent observer mid-poll could discourage participation and could be interpreted as campaigning. Much safer / more robust to check observations and release after the event.  Sorry - those posts merged. Not intended.
