A fantastic session Saturday, some lovely sunshine was a bonus!

It's a FREE, FUN and WELCOMING group-maybe some of the newbies could comment on that!

Get ready for Saturday-put it on the calendar-put a reminder in your phone-

But do turn up. We run for all abilities or none, and leave no-one behind!

GET YOUR TRAINERS BY THE DOOR!

It's NOT going to be cold, it's NOT going to be wet but it WILL be FUN and FREE!

We work at your pace, there are runners or walkers, no-one is left behind and we welcome people who are returning after an illness, a diagnosis or a long break ;-)

CAFE ON THE RYE, 10AM. Bring coins for a bonding coffee after

Haha, RPC, I post these actually believing the weather forecast! I'm now full of cough (and cold) so will not sadly

We've been going for years now, some real friendships have blossomed, but we still welcome anyone willing to give it a go-you will be charmed into sticking with it hopefully...

SEE YOU CAFE RYE AT 10AM

I joined in the summer and I can confirm that the group is lovely and friendly. As I had an ankle problem and was only moderately fit I was a bit intimidated by the idea of a running group, but it really is suitable for everyone.

I'm now definitely fitter overall, can run for reasonable intervals without anything hurting, and about 9lb lighter. Going to the group most weeks is a really helpful way for me to keep things on track and much more fun than exercising alone like I do on other days.

The only downside is watching other people eat sausage sandwiches afterwards when I can't (but it'll be worth it in the end).

Hey all,

Ignore all weather forecasts and just COME ON DOWN!! What's to lose?

We run or walk at YOUR pace so no-one is left behind, some enthusiasm is needed but will be rewarded with a jolly session followed by a restorative bevvy of your choice for team bonding...

Bring a water bottle or hand weights for resistance training, bring your lovely selves too

Saturday forecast is DREARY lol, so come on down to Peckham Rye Caf? at 10am to BRIGHTEN up your weekend and forget about all the money you spent on black Friday!

Merry Christmas runners!

There will be a small, select group running on Saturday! If it's not Christmas day, we run every Saturday! Or power walk...

Sessions tend not to be cancelled just because of the holiday season, so feel free to join in anytime!!!

I'm SO looking forward to getting back into the swing of things with a fantastic workout setting me up for my weekend!

Missing regular exercise due to work demands but trying to put fitness first at the start of the new year, totally free to join, bring coins for coffee after ;-)

    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
