Recommended Posts

Is there anyone not in purple yet? I have limited numbers of T-shirts and Jackets left which are FREE issue.

The Session today was..... well started rather easy, picked up a late nighter....'Laddy Muck', and then the pace picked up for those that were up for it.

Otherwise, it was easy going as per normal!

Good JOB to all!

McCabe

Well, the speaking and highly audacious Toad pulled it off again!

An excellent session Mr. McCabe. Despite not having attended for weeks, being horribly hung over and not having gone to bed, you got me moving. 3 cheers for the power of The Toad.

Thanks very much.

Hi Jen & Tiddles,

Realy simple to join in, simply fill in a health form on www.AHM-Go.com and email it back to www.AHM-Go.com. Its all FREE, no weekly, monthly or membership fee... just bring some change for a tea / coffee at the end.

Fitness ability

This is open for all abilities powerwalking, joggin, Jalking or running. We cover c.4Km with stop points every 500m, ie no further than you can see. The fast ones use this as a 'Speed Play' session which means they head off at a rate of knotts and then circle back to the last person keeping the group together (they cover c.5Km).

We do a lot of stretching and toning, and finish with some Chi Gung (a bit like Tai Chi). As the grass is dry, we use this time of the year for core toning. Everything is based on what you ordinarily do or know about.... and there is c.87.4% fun at the same time.

If you can turn up with 2-bottles of water, we use these for arm & shoulder toning... Bicepts, Tricepts, Deltoids etc..

I hope this helps, and look forward to seeing you on Saturday, 10am by the caf?.

Best,

McCabe

Hi to all,

Saturday is looking better than today. I will still be there even in the rain... amasing what waterproof jackets do >:D<

Usual, meet for 10am and bring 2-bottles of water for arm toning.

Best!

McCabe

Hey UDT, you could do what I do...cheat! I turn up about 20 mins. late and meet them at a point where they have already jogged around one third of the park! Works for me - just! Having said that, I think my attendance record is about once every 3 weeks...ahem.

No worries,

Its really easy going, and aimed at powerwalker, jalkers to joggers. We work to sections of c.500m, with 8 stop points. The faster ones circle back to the last ones so they get the speed in and a good 5Km in total.

There is the all important stretching, toning, some Chi Gung (like Tai Chi) at the end and its all for FREE. Just bring some change for a Tea / Coffee at the end.

If you pop onto www.AHM-Go.com and fill in a health form - its that easy.

Best!

McCabe.

Can you believe it, its Saturday tomorrow!

There will be a couple of new members coming along tomorrow - and the weather is looking just great!

Comedy Store - E'Dulwich Tavern, 8pm: Please put Thursday 14th July into your diary, we will have a night out, some vino and a lot of fun too!

I will be coving Fitness Julia's group tomorrow but will be with you in spirt!

Hasta la Vista amigo's!

McCabe

McCabe.

As much as I love Amanda's dog, he/she ran up from behind and jumped at my legs yesterday whilst on the sprint which tripped me. Initially, I was worried that I could of hurt her/him but when I got home I realised that actually, I could have fallen flat on my face particularly during the sprint part and I've got scratch marks on my leg from where he/she had jumped up.

Sorry to sound negative, I do think she/he is a lovely dog and obviously loves running with us but I don't want to sustain any injuries other than muscle aching!

    • This may be somewhat out of date but virtually no environmental benefit & almost entirely grass... really? https://www.gigl.org.uk/sinc/sobi09/ Description Peckham Rye was established as an open space in the late 19th century and includes several valuable habitat features spread across the park. The park is a Grade II Listed landscape, and has recently been restored with assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund. A small community garden within the site is managed by the Friends of Peckham Rye. Peckham Rye Park won a Green Flag Award again for 2022. The site is used by the Southwark Health Walks project as part of a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme. Wildlife This large park has several valuable habitat features. The most important of these is the only remaining above-ground section of the River Peck and the most natural stream in the borough. The stream is heavily shaded by native, unmanaged wet woodland dominated by alder, ash and pedunculated oak with a ground cover of pendulous sedge and bramble. Alder dominated woodland is a rare habitat in Southwark. Although somewhat altered with weirs, other artificial structures and ornamental planting, some sections are still in their natural banks and includes yellow flag, watercress, water figwort and cuckooflower. The largest of three ponds supports marginal vegetation including hemp agrimony. A variety of waterfowl nest on the wooded island, including tufted duck, coot, Canada goose and mallard. Substantial flocks of gulls visit the park in winter and bats are likely to forage over the water. Small blocks of predominantly native woodland, mostly on the boundary between the Park and the Common, are dominated by oak and ash with a well-developed understory, but sparse ground flora. Spring bulbs have been planted in previous years. These and several dense shrubberies support a good bird population and small numbers of pipistrelle bats are present. Infrequently mown grassland is located in one large area and was seeded in 2009. It's composition includes giant fescue, ladies bedstraw, meadowsweet, black knapweed and wild carrot. The rest of the park consists of amenity grassland with some fine mature trees.
