Recommended Posts

Charlotte,

Great to see you there, and well done with the 5Km on the 21st. You need to wake those two big fellas up nice and early and bring them along on Saturday mornings, or.... along to another FREE group on the Rye on Tuesdays at 7-30pm.

Fitness Julia runs one of her groups in Dulwich Park on Sunday mornings, its a drop in session, pay as you go for ?5. She was the lady with Nadia Sawalha who warmed the group up for the 5Km.

Catch you on Saturday, and perhaps the guys too :))

M.

Good morning all,

The usual Friday Rah Rah to get you motivated for tomorrow morning!

I have arranged for the morning to be nice and crisp, but if there is any frost on the ground we can head over to the 'Stretching' area via the grass.

Today I've added on a new member, and her name is Jude, welcome aboard!

Anyone on this list that hasn't been for ages and ages, no worries, its the usual turn up and have some fun..... I tinker with the routine every now and again to keep everyone on their toes, but otherwise, its the 87.4% fun low impact cardio exercise group. Gen should be back from Auz & Thailand soon, so will be jealous of her radiant glow :-)

10am, by the caf? on the Rye :-)

BTW 1. Patricia, I don't think I have your two friends on the list, Mel & ...... gosh the other name escapes me at the mo. I remembered all 24 names last Saturday morning, I remember Mel was opposite me on the circle and the other friend of yours 3 spaces to my LHS.... will bug me now: a, b, c, d....

BTW 2. Thank you for your emails if you can't make it on a particular Sat, whether for knees, illness, hols or flat hunting.

The sun is sooooo bright this morning rising high nice and early!

Tip of the morning...

Fill your water bottle up with warm or hotter water so this will help to keep your hand/s warm.

Catch you guys then in just over an hour.

M.

You bet its on ! :))

One of my daughters will be having a party with a closure time of 1am, yep..... not a little ones party by any means.

So, I may be dreary eyed :'( If there is lots of ice on the road, I will aim to walk over there from Crystal Palace so that will be my CV. If I'm delayed, obviously start without me and I'll pick you up around the Rye.

and remember the tip from last week: if you are bringing a 1-ltr bottle of water for arm, shoulder & back toning, fill it with warm water to keep your hand/s warm.

Catch you in the morning..... 10am by the caf? on the Rye...

McCabe.

ps. first one in for a coffee, grab a card and have everyone stamp it for the FREE coffee for McCabe.

pps.... Big 'Get Well' to LD!

I'm really sad to say that I won't be able to make the Saturday sessions for a while because I have to work on Saturday mornings :(

I know it's been going really well too so I know I'm missing out, but hopefully I'll manage some of the fantastic bike rides you do (or I'll be able to harass you into running an additional session on another day :D ).

I hadn't checked my emails on been on the forum but I turned up on Saturday ....... at half 10! I don't know why I had half 10 in my mind! I couldn't see anyone so I went for a quick jog around the park then went home :(

Afternoon all!

This has been a flash-by week, and one where the weather is now into double figures! All things being equal with dry ground, we can return back to Sit-ups, Crunches, Abductors (Gluts & outer thigh), then into the core via planks etc.....

I would also like to welcome Rachel to the group - this is an easy going low impact cardio fitness group which is totally FREE!

So we know the story, 10am by the caf? on the Rye. A 1-Ltr bottle of water for arm, shoulder & back toning, and some change for a tea / coffee at the end.

And as always, I lead from the back :-)

Catch you in the morning.

McCabe

ps. Helen, did you come up with a date for your drinks party?

25 in the group today, and still lots missing!

What a fab morning guys, but....... the ground was still slightly damp so no sit ups......

Join Fitness Julia in Dulwich Park, 10am tomorrow morning (Sun), ?5 pay as you go!

Wow! Where did this week go?

Who saw the Horizon programme on exercise, now you know why I do the full-on 10-seconds...

Catch you all in the morning for 10am by the caf? on the Rye. And the new ones... its completely FREE, just bring some change for a tea / coffee at the end. Fill in a health form on www.AHM-Go.com and email back to [email protected].

So, we had 25 last week, can we make 26 tomorrow?

Hasta Leugo!

McCabe

OMG,

We did it, 27 people in the group today and still some away!

A big thanks to Annie & Jo at the end for adding some pilates into the group. Bridget, you're right, it's an hours worth of fitness and an hour having a chat and drinking coffee at the end :)-D

I'll send an email to all regarding the big big evening out on Thursday 22nd March.

Reading this for the first time?

If you are looking for a fitness group that is FREE, Fun, low impact, does lots of stretching, toning, laughing, a choice of powerwalking, jogging and running, includes palates, a proper warm down followed by Chi Gung (a bit like Tai Chi) and finally, tea & coffee, then you have found it.

If you have been out of fitness for some time, losing weight or thinking can I do this, the answer is 'Yes you Can'. I will personally stay with you and coach you through powerwalking and jogging at a really easy pace. I run the sessions from the back so no one is ever left on their own.

Give it a go, its FREE!

McCabe.

ps. Once I have mastered Roller Blading, I'll be running a group on this too... and it will be FREE

    • In what way? Maybe it just felt more intelligent and considered coming directly after Question Time, which was a barely watchable bun fight.
    • Yes, all this. Totally Sephiroth. The electorate wants to see transformation overnight. That's not possible. But what is possible is leading with the right comms strategy, which isn't cutting through. As I've said before, messaging matters more now than policy, that's the only way to bring the electorate with you. And I worry that that's how Reform's going to get into power.  And the media LOVES Reform.
    • “There was an excellent discussion on Newscast last night between the BBC Political Editor, the director of the IFS and the director of More In Common - all highly intelligent people with no party political agenda ” I would call this “generous”   Labour should never have made that tax promise because, as with - duh - Brexit, it’s pretending the real world doesn’t exist now. I blame Labour in no small part for this delusion. But the electorate need to cop on as well.  They think they can have everything they want without responsibilities, costs or attachments. The media encourage this  Labour do need to raise taxes. The country needs it.  Now, exactly how it’s done remains to be seen. But if people are just going to go around going “la la laffer curve. Liars! String em up! Vote someone else” then they just aren’t serious people reckoning with the problem yes Labour are more than a year into their term, but after 14 years of what the Tories  did? Whoever takes over, has a major problem
    • Messaging, messaging, messaging. That's all it boils down to. There are only so many fiscal policies out there, and they're there for the taking, no matter which party you're in. I hate to say it, but Farage gets it right every time. Even when Reform reneges on fiscal policy, it does it with enough confidence and candidness that no one is wringing their hands. Instead, they're quietly admired for their pragmatism. Strangely, it's exactly the same as Labour has done, with its manifesto reverse on income tax, but it's going to bomb.  Blaming the Tories / Brexit / Covid / Putin ... none of it washes with the public anymore  - it wants to be sold a vision of the future, not reminded of the disasters of the past. Labour put itself on the back foot with its 'the tories fucked it all up' stance right at the beginning of its tenure.  All Lammy had to do (as with Reeves and Raynor etc) was say 'mea culpa. We've made a mistake, we'll fix it. Sorry guys, we're on it'. But instead it's 'nothing to see here / it's someone else's fault / I was buying a suit / hadn't been briefed yet'.  And, of course, the press smells blood, which never helps.  Oh! And Reeve's speech on Wednesday was so drab and predictable that even the journalists at the press conference couldn't really be arsed to come up with any challenging questions.
