Ladymuck
Apart from a good sob, over a good drink with good friends/partner - (along with some Hotel Chocolat choccies) always warms my heart.Utterly sublime. Bellenden Belle
Exercise......shakes the cobwebs and gives me an opportunity to focus solely on an activity, rather than my anxieties. The trick is motivating myself to exercise in the first place...... ????
Funnily enough (as a boozer) I think booze is a nightmare for this, just double 'black dog' with boozer's gloom the next day, personally a walk and a think does it for me but I'm very rarely low and tend to lean towards rational answers (wether they are right or wrong is besides the point) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14498-when-you-are-feeling-a-bit-low-what-does-it-for-you/#findComment-386275 Share on other sites
dita-on-tees
I get the booze blues so I avoid when down. I think i try and accept that I feel down and although my immediate thought is to think that the situation is never going to improve I tell myself, through past experience, that eventually it does pass. I think accepting that it is normal to feel down every now and again sort of helps too, your not alone and lots of people go through it and empathise. Being with friends sometimes helps. I also have to give myself something to look forward to. Or you could just whack on the Tom Jones and have a dance in the kitchen... Narnia
I try to remember that feeling down is just a reflection of my thoughts at that time. Thoughts I don't have to think. Same as feeling 'up' is a pretender too if it's based on 'happy thoughts'. Try not to think so much is my answer. Keef
Booze is a depressant, and definitely not a long term solution to the blues, but it can be a great way to put it off for a night. In the long run though, it just causes you to be more miserable. binary_star
If I'm feeling a bit low and I'm near a computer, I watch Maru If I'm feeling more than a bit low, then I don't really have a coping strategy for that to be honest. Lucky for me it doesn't happen that often. DJKillaQueen
Hmmm.....depends how low I am. The company of friends definitely helps. Shopping too. Sport is a definite anti-depressant and I agree with Dita. It's important to have something to look forward to. Tarot
I like going through my e-mail, and reading letters from my friends. then I delete all the insignificant ones.
