I was on the verge of tapping said PWEI fan on the bonce to tell him I too, suffer, and have one of the original pepsi logo t-shirts somewhere. but i desisted, thinking this would mark me out as musically marginal. but clearly there were more than two of us.

Sean do you know every eighties musician that gets mentioned? Were you a venue manager, or a drug dealer or something?

What's the time? It's def con one!

Ultraconsultancy

I'd say Jah is about right with 60 or 70 - quite a few crowd-refreshes tho so it may be a bit higher - at any given point, just standing in the room I counted 30-40, add in the significant smoking contingent* plus those people who came and left early or arrived late and I'd say 70-80 maybe?

Ultraconsultancy, firstly t'was great to meet you on Friday. Secondly I did nothing of the sort but instead spent my teens/20s in rural Ireland and then middle-England devouring the 3 main music weeklys plus whatever monthly variant came out. Jah started to speak to me about music at one point on Friday but I sort of moved away from the subject because I feared I would bore the bejasus out of him ... As is evident from my forum use, when I get into something it veers towards the "heavy"

* on the smoking note, I'm not sure what the smokers think but if that room had us in it when smoking was allowed it would have been hell up there

Sean, I'm sure you wouldn't have bored the bejasus out of me by talking about music. I think you'll find I can be just as obsessive. It's only a few short years ago that I finally weaned myself off reading the NME every week. Still get Mojo though.

Yes, those stairs were a bit scary and if us smokers had been up in that room it certainly would have been damned foggy up there even with the windows wide open.

Was that before or after you made me eat a whole sqaure of cak ein one go..??!:))

Thanks for organising such a great party - really enjoyed it!

Looking forward to the next get-together already - and I'm saying that after going to bed at 3.45am last night after the soap awards!

just found this...

yes, it was a truly a great night and I was excited (very sad I know) to try and guess who was who from their sign in names...I couldnt believe how many people their were either. I dont think I got the chance to speak to half of the people there... In case anyone knew who I was - petite girl with fringe with a very tall boy and who kept saying 'Im from the wellbeing well!'!!!

Met some really lovely people...

Hope to meet again at some point

And it was nice to meet you too, hyounan - (was it you who offered a free massage or am i thinking of someone else?) sorry if I wasn't making much sense - my party ettiquette was rather the wrong way round: say hi to all the people I know first, then, when I'd had a few, find people I didn't know. Good form.

    • @alice I suggest you reserve judgement until you've experienced it yourself.
    • Yes, I've never bought a  phone that was locked to a specific network. So as far as I know,I can just stick any SIM card in my old mobile. Or indeed my new mobile, but there wouldn't be much point in that; I think the old one  still works, but there must have been some reason why I bought a new one. I think I wanted something with more storage capacity, and my new one has loads. It's just occurred to me that I need to double check all my photos etc are backed up. I hardly ever make actual phone calls, I usually use WhatsApp or texts or emails, but clearly if my main phone is stolen I would need to make various phone calls ASAP. I was just going to get a cheap card from Argos, so I'm not sure anybody there would know! The actual mobile I use is on a SIM only contract with iD, so maybe I should just ask them. I don't care about the number as it's only for occasional use. I've had my main mobile number ever since I've had a mobile, apart from a work related one, so around 25 years, and I do care about that number as it's very easy to remember,  so I've moved it around whenever I've changed providers  Oh, really? I thought there were just two sizes and if you needed the smaller one you just took off the surrounding bit? Surely mobiles take a SIM card for any network, otherwise you could never change network without changing your phone? How long have you had that SIM card in the phone? If I  have to make phone calls using the back up phone, the person I was calling wouldn't know who it was! They might think it was spam! I'd have to tell them in advance that I was going to call them 🤣
    • No, the behaviour exhibited on the Rye, and now maybe neighbouring roads, goes far beyond 'age old silly behaviour'. It is intimidation.
    • Thanks, I will look at OKR too
