2 things out on 360 this week

1 to 100 is a free download and let's you compete with thousands of others, with your avatar, in a live quiz show, sometimes for prizes. I enjoyed it far more than I thought but that was nothing compared to Lady Mac who has made me note the times of the next live events to take part.. slightly worrying

Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition also out - still a true gem of a game, and that music!

I am gutted. Was really looking forward to buying the new Ghostbusters game, and the release date has been put back to October/Novermber! :(

Not sure why, as it seems finished, and all the sites have full reviews... Incidently, the Wii version has better marks than 360 or PS3.

Hmmm, well gamespot gave it 8, and considering they usually hate everything released on the wii, that seems a good score.

They say the main weakness is that it's short.

F**k it, I was a child of the 80s, and anything Ghostbusters has got to be worth the risk, even if Ghostbusters 2 was a sh!t film.

Ok, so I was burgled a few months ago (and am still awaiting insurance payout) and I had my PS3 nicked. Now, I have always been a gamer and not to have a console in the house feels a bit weird. The wife never really liked it as apparently I could be spending more time doing other stuff she liked doing like moaning and chatting but she has said that she will sanction a Wii if I want to get one and would look at me disaprovingly and go all thin lipped if I get another PS3.

Question is what do I get? Do I still need a console at 35 with a small child in the house and other VERY time consuming hobbies?

*corssed fingers and hopes to be told to go out and buy PS3 straight away* :))

Alwyas bought Sony consoles but not a PS3 - it just doesn't have anything worth buying on there (LBP possibly excpeted) - the 360 has way more games, a better (IMO) live service and all round experience

And it's cheaper

the Wii... has a couple of very good games but tbh I rarely switch it on

I've always been a nintendo fan, but the wii just doesn't have the games I want. It would be great fun for playing with your kid or kids, but for locking yourself away and saving the world, you're probably better off with a 360. I hope to get myself a 360 at some point.
How come she's discriminating between games consoles? I think the Wii seems to be the system that people who aren't "gamers" seem to recognise, accept or own. However once you're over the novelty of standing in front of your tv waving your arms about the Wii gets shelved to gather dust as there's not a lot of great games when compared to the xbox360 or ps3. I'd lean towards the Xbox as it's online is more established and all my chums are on it but these days both are getting most of the big games. So take the plunge and rejoin the hordes of middle-aged blokes playing video games whilst getting evils from their women.

I have started to watch a lot of films through the 360 as well - either streamed from the laptop or downloaded from the film servoce...

keef - I didn't know big, free roaming worlds were your bag - but there are plenty of stone cold gems on the 360. Piers didn't did Fallout 3 but it is frankly awesome once you get past a slow start..

How does one get this? From the dashboard??

Anyone wanna be Xbox360 Friends? My prof is rattty657 (three t's in rattty!)

ratty, I'll send you an invite later

Atthe moment 100 to 1 is free to to Gold members as it's in beta only - if you are a gold memeber you should see it plastered over the dashboard - just pick one of those and you will get an option to download the necessary

it's a live thing tho so you can't play anytime - PM me if you get stuck and I'll try and help

Keef - fair enough, Fable 2 or Oblivion for you then (Fable 2 is a bit prespcriptive for me - Oblivion let's you go aaaanywhere)

It's a couple of years old now but still looks great

tch - ratty asks for invites, gets one and ignores it

I have been rebuffed!

Still it was very amusing to play a game of 1 vs 100 with Mockney Piers and anotehr friend from devon online the other night - very freaky seeing our avatars gesturing away in a big mob

I crushed him btw ;-)

    • A reminder that this is the post-festival litter I collected a week or so after the Council had signed off Gala's litter picking activity and reopened the park to the public. For clarity this was a result of just wandering around the stage, tent & toilet areas in the south of the site for about an hour. Not difficult to see, far from a focused, professional 'pick', and not comprehensive - there will have been loads more spread over the rest of the site, which is probably still there now. Apart from being unpleasant, there's a safety aspect here - kids & dogs picking up bits of glitter balls, shards of plastic cups, baggies containing white powder?? I collected a similar amount the previous year.  I contacted Charlie Simm (Events Team) for her reaction (cc'd Renata Hamvas & Victoria Mills, Peckham Rye councillors) and received no response. When VM thankfully followed up as to all why the litter picking wasn't satisfactory, and what actions were planned to remedy this, CS just escalated it as an official complaint. This complaint was dismissed a few months later with the comment that, apart from the cable ties, there was no proof that the litter had come from the festival. RH has remained silent throughout all my correspondence. I've considered doing a comprehensive litter survey before & after the event to categorically guage the impact of the festival, using metre squares and approved methodology, maybe even inviting relevant students as a project, but I feel whatever the results, they would just be ignored by the council - completely pointless.
    • Just a quick note that my son was mugged last night on Dunstans Road just after 6pm. Two youths on bikes with balaclavas stole his phone, headphones and driver’s license near the mansion block next to Dawson’s Heights. Please be vigilant when walking in the area after dark.
    • They clearly don’t.  I would expect better from the council.  Rather dismally, it sounds like any complaints or requests just fall on deaf ears.
