Received a letter from Southwark as I live in the neighbour hood. Apparently consultations will close on the 9th of Feb 2011. They have highlighted areas that will be taken in considerations. Apparently parking might not be one of them as the building will have its own underground parking. Loss of sunlight to property will be considered therefore people on burrow road should consider this. I keep on wondering where they will get space for a garden as the parking space and car wash seem too small. Should take a traffic photo on Saturday evenings, the traffic caused by sainburys is terrible. Just rumbling now from general annoyance.

Not sure how many of you would bother to look at a thread entitled: "Dulwich Hamlet at home - Sat 29/1, 3.00pm - Now Postponed", so I have cut and paste a post which is pertinent to this matter:

The Supporters' Forum encompassing details of the proposed car park development is intended to be rescheduled for this coming Tuesday after the Horsham YMCA game. However it is understandable this may not be convenient for some people. If people are happy for this to go ahead at a later date on a Saturday could you let me know?

If you wish for this to take place on a Saturday: click here and post accordingly.

I hope you know what you are doing. There is a difference between being a supporter of DHFC and its interests and one's own interests as a resident of the area. This meeting sounds like it is for the former and not the latter although one could be both. However you may not be doing the club any favours by whipping the locals up into a frenzy to attend a meeting which is not for the purpose of addressing their interests.

Thanks for your concern Narnia.

Well, I asked one of the DHFC guys if this meeting was for the general public (including local residents who oppose the planned works) and he said yes. He also said that we would be able to ask questions about the proposals. I am a loyal supporter of DHFC, but, as a resident who is likely to be affected by additional building, am NOT a supporter of this intended project. Therefore, it is my intention to attend whether they like it or not!

But you have raised a valid point. I am now going to return to the DHFC thread to clarify.

Hi,

Again, for the benefit of those of you who don't read football threads:

Hello again Griff,

I just need to check.

Following the last DHFC match, I visited DHFC personnel in the Board Room for the purpose of asking them whether the above meeting (Supporters' Forum) was also for the general public (including those local residents who are unhappy about the proposed building proposals), and was told yes. Please could you confirm that this remains the case.

My situation is that, whilst a longstanding and loyal supporter of DHFC, I am also a local resident likely to be affected by the proposed works. I oppose the current proposals and wish to make my objections known as well as to ask questions. I also have many neighbours (some of whom are not necessarily supporters of the Club) but who would neverthless also like to attend. May we attend? Or not?

Thanks.

Thank you very much Griff. I hope to be there on the 2nd.

Unable to go along last night but interested to hear of any comments made.

At the moment the application appears to have been pulled from the website. I've emailed Adrian Dennis to suggest letters go out addressed to "Owner" as so many houses in Abbotswood and surrounding roads are rented. At the moment they simply send them out addressed to "Occupier" so may never get seen by person who has a legal interest.

Seems its back and letters are still to Occupier.

Just received a letter from Southwark Planning this morning saying that this planning application is now live again.

The consultation period starts tomorrow (26th August) and ends on 15th September according to the letter.

Sorry to have a short attention span -- but although I wrote to the council to ask, PLEASE don't do this!, I entirely forget the array of impressive arguments that I marshalled to support my request.

No wonder really, since they were all pinched from neighbours.

Will someone do me a favour and list the reasons that this is not a Good Thing? I promise not to simply cut-and-paste. SERIOUS REQUEST. Thanks.

    • And from what I remember, she eventually cut the tea shop for a similar  reason to chandelier.  Chariot style buggies
    • Oh yes, it could have been about there, I can't remember exactly. At one point there seemed to be a load of pizza places opening on NCR. I vaguely remember the one we used to use was put out of business by another one which opened. Wasn't Grace and Favour's food offering more of a tea shop at the back of the actual shop? If memory serves the owner, whose name escapes me now, was one of the earliest people I know to move to Hastings. Which must now be crammed with South East Londoners 🤣

    • Hi Dogkennelhillbilly, You won't be aware that i proposed infill sites for housing in East Dulwich - the garages on Bassano Street and Henslowe that respectively became 1-4 Dill Terrace family houses and the 78, 80, 80A Henslowe Street family houses. These were council owned garages and it was frustrating how slow the council was to go from my idea to completion (roughly eight years). East Dulwich has some other vacant WW2 bomb sites I'm guessing that the private land owners have been sitting on.Owe for a land tax for vacant land.  WRT to the builders yard by East dulwich station. Southwark Council has an agreed policy the area should remain suburban 2/3 storeys maximum. But the approved scheme is 9 storeys of student accommodation. Very hard to put this genie back in the bottle. The council has recently publicly stated lower ratios of social housing will be required. I will be amazed if the developer doesn't submit another application now they have the 9 storeys approved but with significantly less social housing. The less social housing the higher the land values. The higher the land values the less social housing viability reports state are possible.  If we really want to increase home supply - Southwark have over 6,000 empty homes. Vancouver charges a low % of the value of empty homes and rapidly eased this problem. Parts of Wales have introduced under Article 4 planning permission is required for second homes seeing within 12 months a dramatic decrease in property prices. Southwark Council have Article 4 requirements - why not add this one? It takes National political will to solve this AND regional and local authorities such as the second home council tax premium and these being used promptly.
