LM, did you say he has a webcam in his room? Could he have left it on, aimed at the money, with you sitting back here in blighty watching the 'transaction' take place, looking out for any suspicious goings-on?? Sorry if my ingenious idea has come a bit late! Good luck though - I feel sure it will work out fine.

Blimey brum, that IS an ingenious idea...and yes, it IS a bit late!!! LOL! But thanks. x

But then, I think hubby takes his laptop etc. to work. And even if he didn't, coming from the distrustful and cautious camp, he'd have probably locked it in his suitcase and then hidden the suitcase under the bed - or something.

Well just look at them, literally hundreds in Finland, without *much to do.

Surely one of them could have hid in the hotel room & waited quietly, then if a thief/cleaner did steal the money.

Bingo, out jumps the deer, bob's your uncle, open and shut case.

No ?

( a bit lateral I admit, but definitely possible )

:)A.

*unemployment up by 28 percent this year alone

Heh Heh Lady Kat.

Anyway, for all of you just itching to know: the money was indeed taken from the room as arranged. And, in case the cynics were wondering, nothing else was missing;-).

Now we just have to wait until Wednesday for the receipt to make an appearance.

Ah! I see - you've metamorphosised metamorphed metamorphosed somehow evolved into a...erm...black out blind? No wonder you mistook a herd of cows for reindeer.

Now run along and go and do something useful, like intercept some light. I shall shed more light on Wednesday - hope you are up to it.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
