Heinz Beans have always been too bland and sweet and mushy - always been (sic) ABH ("any but Heinz")for me, and Branston became my favourite as soon as they were "revived". I used to adore Cross & Blackwell years ago. The only exception to the ABH rule is their curried bneans with sultanas, which go marvellously with sausage and mash..

Welsh Rarebit on granary toast with a layer of beans between toast and cheese is food of the gods

Tinned baked beans and sausage (again, Heinz is okay for this as well as Branston) is great with a jacket potato..

Odd Fact: if you buy Branston beans via Ocado it has for some time been cheaper to buy 4 single 440 gram cans than one 4-pack...

Beans 'on' toast is a culinary minefield.

1. Heinz beanz / 'new and improved' Branston beans

2. on the toast / on the side*

3. with / without marmite

4. with / without grated cheese

Otherwise don't fuck about with this classic dish.

* I know someone who cannot eat it if the beans are even remotely coming into contact with the toast (*rolls eyes*)

LM, you cannot just cannot say you do your own gear and then not provide a recipe.

I buy the cheap Asda ones and heat them up on the lowest setting on the smallest gas ring,

put my plate over the top of the saucepan as a lid (this heats the plate)

and wait a few minutes stirring once or twice,

before pouring through a strainer which removes the excess salt and sugar locked in the sauce,

and then they hit the plate with the rest of the fried potato and either bacon or sausage.

    • A huge shout-out to Andy! He’s helped us several times now and is an absolute gem. He doesn't just do the easy jobs; he finds solutions to the difficult, non-obvious problems that others might miss. He is very hard working, incredibly friendly, great with pets, and always leaves the place better than he found it. 10/10!
    • Here to add my voice to those praising Temi. She just painted my dilapidated home office in ED and did a fantastic job in just two days in a much lighter colour, including woodwork, damp blocker and filling holes. She's efficient, on time and I barely heard a peep out of her; she just got on with the job. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
    • The residents & families of the estate are getting parking fines,  out of the blue , the residents parking system waa changed from Southern to Sippi with cameras put up in the car park and people issued with fines entering the estate for more then 10 minutes , families can no longer pick up or drop off family due to a new 10 minute wait fine. Residents are appealing with Sippi and Southern as there was no letters to consult of a parking change,  new waiting times or fines, delivery drivers are getting fines everyday,  if you get a fine,  appeal it, there is no signage up to say about parking fines or waiting time
