These filmings are good news.

Southwark Council gets revenue from issuing a permit to the filming company for using the public domain for commercial purposes.

HMRC gets a tax payment from the resident after the tax return showing the fee from the filming company is submitted.

Its the Location Manager who ensures there's no damage and their insurance should cover it (as per the agreement you sign) but of course, accidents happen. It must be very rare for a property needing 10k of repairs. Have you some experience of extensive damage from a location shoot?

It's the production company's responsibility to make good any damage caused by filming. This can often be very expensive but nothing to do with your own insurance.

Is it prudent for the "host" to take out temporary additional public liability insurance as this commercial activity is unlikely to be covered by the "host's" regular insurance and as protection if a claim arises and the production company's insurance is defective?

    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
    • Thanks for posting this. Really interesting. It would be good if you added a star rating, so that it was easier to do comparisons / see what your top recommendations are. Great blog though!
