Can I point you in this direction kind sir?

Got mine ages ago, did it online (had no trouble ianr) but was a bit bemused because the census is supposed to be for a particular (much later) day, but it took all the details OK including who was staying at my house that day!

I'm very cynical about the census, I've worked on it twice as an enumerator, the first time was OK, but the last time there were so many cock-ups I just can't believe the results can be accurate.

Its all supposed to be for the 27th, none of it should be relevant to the day you filled it in??

Shouldn't it?

Exactly. So why don't they block the online site from taking details till 27th? It's just a joke.

Sue, I think on 27 March you're going to have to recreate the exact circumstances as at the time you submitted the form. The alternatives – prison, a local collapse of space-time, decreased funding for the ED Home for Wayward Hamsters, whatever – don't really bear thinking about.

As Harold Wilson almost said, a week is a long time in domestic inter-personal relations. B)

Bit of a joke though, isn't it, what's the point in having a census supposedly taken on a certain day and then clearly opening the door to all sorts of inaccuracies.

Having heard the man in charge of organising the Indian census I must say I like their approach. There is an island off the mainland where the natives are less than friendly. In fact it's been made a no-fly zone due to the spear throwing the planes started. Come census time the officials approach the island but not too closely. They throw from their boat into the sea coconuts and others items of interest to the locals.

Once the tide brings the items in, the natives come out of hiding to collect everything. When this happens the officials are ready with their camera's and click away. This is how the islands inhabitants are counted. Great. Not sure how they decide what religion they are though.

I would have thought they could do better in helping folk avoid that error.

I'm also suspecting that a moderate percentage of people will include as visitors those who've been staying overnight 26-27th, rather than on the Sunday night 27-28th. The only explicit confirmation I found on the website is in the glossary, which I only discovered indirectly: "Census night is the night of Sunday 27 March going into the morning of Monday 28 March."

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
